These high school students just mouth off what they hear from their very left leaning teachers, go forth and enjoy the day off from school. Think about this- how many working adults do you see in these photos?
Ziva, I know there are good Mexicans that love this country - no one denies that. I don't know how many they are, but I know they exist.
This behavior cannot even be excused with a simple they don't know what they are doing, because they do. I've met these mexicans before in Mexican Independence Festivals, among others in Whittier Narrows, as well as in TX, and they really feel these way.
This is, at the very least, is lack of respect for the nation you are in, period. Common Sense should tell them that much.
How can you request to be included in a country when you don't respect its simbols. This is a diservice to the other minorities. If the mexicans have an alternate agenda they should not use other minorities. Like it or not Texas and California belong to the US get over with it. If you don't love america the door is always open. I am in favor of the inmigrants but not against the US.
I'm not disagreeing with you Venti, I'm not saying they don't exist. What I am saying is they are the minority, they are a radical fringe, and just like the radical Anglo(I hate that word) left, they go after the easily brainwashed young. Once these kids get out into the real world and have to earn a living they change their tune. I think everyone over reacts to them and that detracts attention from the real problems associated with our immigration policies.
Ziva, they need to come out and overtake this crowd. This is not helping the good illegal aliens of this country nor the image of future immigrants. The good ones, need to show as much passion as the bad ones, especially when images are so hard to forget.

The problem is the Leadership of these rallies, this is not the 60's where not every household had a TV. This is 2006 we not only have a zillion news channels but we also have the internet. So if they just let a handful of people with a stupid sign from their fringe group come into the march, guess what will be the picture passed around cyberspace and now come to signify all those marching. Was the whole sea of Latin American flags a mistake? Yes. But a bigger one was to let those people participate in the march. I've only lived in the Southeast so I do not know first hand about the Latino situation in the border states, but I feel confident that these are fringe groups. I only know first hand about Cuban protests, and they also have their fringe groups but those who are in charge of protest do an excellent job of keeping them out.
The promoters of the old secessionist movement could also have been catalogued as a "small fringe group" at one point. For that matter, so would have been the case with one small group calling themselves "national socialists" in the early '20s. These events should not be taken lightly. By the same token, those who wish to promote division and crypto "reconquest" agendas here should note what happened to the last bunch who tried going the "secesh" route...

I'm with Ziva. They aren't the majority. I really don't know what it's like in CA but being from Chicago I don't see anti-American resentment.
As for having the 'better apples' come take center stage away from these children, it wouldn't happen. News is better news when it's negative. Especially when the hot topic is immigrants. When have we ever been portrayed in a positive light?
