The neighborhoods outside Paris erupting in riot for the sixth straight night have mostly been no-go zones for police for quite some time. Sadly, many of them lie near the RER train route I used to often take out to Orly Airport, the scene of many happy memories. Nowadays, gangs of young men from Martinique, Senegal, and Algeria ride that route at night, forcibly raping students and secretaries in several well-publicized incidents; crime has become such a way of life along that corridor that any attempt to crack down on it is met with rioting and arson. The fact that a large percentage of the rioters are young Muslim men is, to a degree, coincidental, as Michel Houellebecq points out in several of his novels--this is simply Paris' most neglected, most violent, and least-assimilated chain of ghettoes for dark-skinned immigrants of all religions (in fact the two teenagers electrocuted were African but not even Muslim). However, it has become an increasingly fertile Petrie Dish for radical Muslim recruitment.
Anyone who feels a smug sense of satisfaction that France has managed to successfully import its present nightmarish and all-but-insoluble problem, as, I admit, I occasionally do, must surely feel his schadenfreude tempered by the sight of such an elegant, ancient, and civilized culture committing suicide in slow motion. I have been pointing out to my European friends, all of whom object in the most angry terms imaginable to the US wars on terror, for some years that they are about to embark upon one of their own--a civil war. Someday, the events of the past week may be seen as the opening salvo of that war. I very much hope not.
The media hasn't mentioned anything because no one cares. I've just gone out of my way to read articles and see linked blogs through memeorandom such as this one and I still do not care.
I can sum this up quite easily. The French are a homogonous culture who let in workers for cheap labor. They were only kidding when they offered the workers equal rights. 40 cars have been burned. A bunch of angry kids are yelling in badly accented (to a Parisian ear) French. This is news? Call me when this reaches some sort of newsworthy scale. No one's dieing. We don't have French (Ukranian) soldiers opening up on full crowds, we don't have MORE religious prosecution in France (they already have quite a lot) this is simply more of the same and even then only to a slight degree.
Ooooh the Frenchies are having trouble integrating their society. No they're not. The French aren't trying to integrate. The African worker immigrants were meant to be work menial labor not heard. This isn't more than the popular (more populous) kid excluding the new kid. The French decided who gets to be French back in 1066 when the repelled the INVADING MUSLIMS. What makes you think the French'll let them in this time?
Let the battle for Europe begin.
All impoverished youths, whose parenting generations have abandonned you to a hopeless economic struggle, RISE UP!
Let the revolution in France be the beginning of revolution elsewhere, for all disaffected peoples.
I was in Germany this past August for a vacation, and was shocked at how the demographics had changed since when I lived there back in 1977. We started our visit in Munich, and there were a lot of Arabic immigrants living at the Marriott where we stayed, in the Scwabing neighborhood.
However, what sent a chill down my spine was watching the satellite TV channels in the hotel, and stopping to catch Al Jazeera. They were showing a documentary that extolled the need to bring down all Western governments by instituting civil unrest and violence. I couldn't believe that in this day and age, with the state of security and terrorism, that such blatant propaganda calling for violent overthrow of all the world's Western, wealthy governments would be allowed to be broadcast.
The actions that were shown and requested in the documentary (mostly in English, strange enough) are being lived out in France and elsewhere. I'm wondering if the broadcast fees that someone earns from it are worth the mayhem that broadcaster sows...
Incredible as it may seem, the French press, in collaboration with the French government, is trying to convince us that the perps of this rioting are NOT Muslims. How gullible do they think the American people are? The people behind this chaos are opportunistic Jihadists, who hope that the level of unrest will increase among the Muslim population. Their ultimate aim is to bring down every Western society. Let's call this what it is: Jihad.
