Having Hamas in government in Gaza is like having Osama Bin Laden president of Afghanistan. These are murderous terrorists. I know he does not think that Americans are ignorant, and would ever believe his blatant lies and revisionist history. "I hope that Americans will give careful and well-informed thought to root causes and historical realities, in which case I think they will question why a supposedly "legitimate" state such as Israel has had to conduct decades of war against a subject refugee population without ever achieving its goals" Maybe its because "pals" are relentless killers, if they stopped the attacks, believe me, Israel would not have to continue this war. Also, the reason they have had to conduct decades of war is because Israelis/Jews are moral people, and show restraint, instead of, (everyone knows they can) wipe the "palestinians" off the map.
>We know our history, it is you who does not Mr.Haniyeh. The root causes are your murderous terrorist ways, your peoples inability to live a peacful productive life. You teach your Children to kill and maim, you kill babies, mothers, grand mothers. Israel is Jewish land, and you are dreaming if you think that they would ever go back to the `48 lines. Gaza was captured from Egypt, and the west bank from Jordan in a defensive war. There never was a "palestinian state" but only a few arabs who left their homes because the surrounding Arab counries told them to leave because they were going to attack the fledgling state of Israel. There is no refugee crisis, and there is no occupation of palestinian lands...they are just a proxy in order for all the Arab states to continue to be a thorn in Israels side. Where has all the money the world gave to the Palestinians gone? Billions?? Israel built a modern, wealthy peaceful strong country, where many Doctors, Lawyers, Nobel prize winners, and scientists continue to come out of, what have the "palestinians" done?? Kill, and teach their children to kill. They continue to lie to the world, and teach their children how to bomb and die, instead of work and heal. How dare the washington post give a propaganda platform to one of the most murderous, terrorist groups in the world.

Before you make sweeping bigoted comments, read carefully genius. Haniyeh said he wants to go back to '67 lines and deal with right of return for refugees from '48.
As to the other vitriolic drivel frothing from your mouth, it's not really worth dignifying it with a response since you are clearly so indoctrinated it would be liking talking to a wall. Enjoy your ignorance, because I loved reading it.

If you scientifically analize the reason(s)of why does a dog licks his balls ,it does not mean that you subscribe to this behaviour!Read the last line of the editorial."Yet the complexities of that situation ,and the guilt on both sides cannot obscure the evil that S.B.perpetuated on the innocent"

Let's see - Haniyeh is the head of Hamas, whose charter calls for the destruction of Israel. Is this not clear enough for you? Anything Haniyeh says is for the furtherance of his goal - the elimination of Israel.
There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are all a waste of time and vain endeavors. The Palestinian people know better than to consent to having their future, rights and fate toyed with. Hence, negotiations are fruitless and a waste of time. The terrorist group believes in hudnas - strategic ceasefires that are nothing more than a way to buy time to resume attacking Israel.
But hey, if you like supporting terrorism and terrorists, be my guest. No sweat off my back.

This is like the Haaretz publishing an article from Osama Bin Laden. The Washington Post chose to spread the hate filled cheap, disgusting, sad, lying, propaganda of Haniyeh / Hamas.
The WaPo disgusts me right now.
