hahahaha...he is a shameless huckster.
There are several areas in which this is so disturbing. First, the fact that the press covered it so poorly. What happened to freedom of the press? Is there not enough trust in the system to have confidence that the people will elect whom they want to elect. (And if it's really, really close that the SUpreme Court will decide). Second, there's such a double standard for Dems and Repubs. Why don't we demand as citizens that ALL our politicians be faithful, loyal, honest, etc. Things that used to be meaningful to people. The press needs to do their job and stop being a shill for the Democratic Party.
What this drives home for me is the sickening and concrete realization that these "gatekeepers of truth" have been been at it for ages. How has history been altered? What might have been?
Thank God for the internet, this type of social engineering may become a thing of the past.
Here's another little factoid to update your story. It answers your question: "why would he be slinking around to avoid being seen with Rielle at the Beverly Hilton this past month. If Elizabeth already knew about the affair in 2006, then why hide it?"
This is from the bottom of Katharine Q. Seelye's report in the New York Times:
[Bob Schieffer of CBS News] said he asked to speak with Elizabeth Edwards, who got on the phone, "obviously in tears," and told him, "This is really, really tough." While Edwards had told his wife of the affair more than two years ago, he had not told her that he had had a rendezvous with Hunter and the baby last month in Beverly Hills.
BUSTED!
What is so puzzling is Elizabeths complicity in perpetuating this fraud. Doesn't she have any sense of decency? How could she live a lie for two years to accomodate a worthless creep ?
At what point in someones life does a person actually realize what a flawed and despicable person they have chosen?
Is there some imaginary reward out there for her if she can pull this scam off?
I cannot imagine her motives.

This is about loyalty or, in Edwards case the lack thereof. Elizabeth forgave him in 2006 but he still continued to stab her, and her children, in the back.
What is the old saying " fool me once shame on you, fool me twice...."
No one should ever allow this scum to be in a position of trust.
Why is it not child neglect or abuse for this woman to leave the name of the father off the child's birth certificate and then turn down an opportunity for the child to some day know who her father is, but wait, if Edwards is the father it is probably an act of mercy to deprive her of that knowledge. What America is Edwards in?
