This woman was obviously truly, physcially sick, not just mentally sick, considering that she died. She may have been in the psych ward because none of her primary care doctors believed her when she would go to them with her symptoms. This happens all too often... doctors prescribing depression and anxiety meds or sending their patients to psychiatrists, because the doctors do not listen to the patients' health complaints and concerns.

I am an RN in a big city ER and have been for 20 years.
Hear this...you bet hospital care is worse than it was when I started. Here's why... No. 1. Staffing cuts, particularly patient to nurse ratios. Funny thing, there's more managers and administrators than ever. and 2Nurses require more than a 2 year degree to be proficient at their jobs, particulary in the area of patient assessment. A 2 year vs. a 4 year program debate will probably continue to rage forever. But the hospitals are taking people fresh out of school and putting them in intensive care areas with very little experience, monitoring and mentoring. It takes another 2 years at least before you should be in a specialtiy area of the hospital ie ER, ICU, PICU.

Not only should there be a lawsuit against this hospital and criminal charges, but this hospital needs to be shut down.
If they would let this woman die and do nothing to help, there is no telling what else goes on in that hospital.
With all due respect to the anonymous RN that posted, I don't care what the level of experience is. It doesn't take a medical degree of any sort to realize that something was wrong.
That's not to suggest that you're making excuses. I'm simply pointing out that it doesn't matter how understaffed or inexperienced the staff is at the hospital. They have an obligation to help, and they didn't.
I will certainly think twice before stepping foot in a medical facility. My life may depend on it!!

Shocking indeed! but just a preview of coming horrors if the left manages to cram socialized medicine down our throats. Don't believe it! just look at whats going on in the UK.

While finishing studies for MY doctorate, I worked in a county general health-care facility... (read: dumping point for ANYTHING they don't want in a paying hospital)
There were several patients I cleaned and made comfortable daily, who BEGGED ME to PRAY with them, because their 'doctor' kept telling them they would 'be fine...' but they KNEW they were dying...
One made it to the third day with our prayers, and the other was gone before the second day, but BOTH thanked me for having the courage to PRAY WITH THEM...
