I wish American publications would start reprinting the cartoons in solidarity with the Dutch.
I also think the Dutch should announce they are going to deport the families of any "youths" caught in the rioting.
Trust the people who invented Danegeld to recognize it, and refuse to pay it.
Unfortunately, political correctness has subsumed so much of the media in the west. In Canada, the publisher of a magazine is under prosecution by the Alberta Human Rights Commission for pubishing those self same cartoons.
This is in a country whose very constitution "protects" the free speech of all citizens...yeah right.
Expel them all, root and branch. Expel them like you would vomit out poison, because that's what they are.
"Youths" in Denmark are setting things on fire all across Denmark because of warm weather and a winter holiday? Wow! Even a writer of fiction would have a tough time coming up with such an absurdity. Still, the Danes are more aware of the impending Muslim dark age than any other country in EUropia. A note to Steve 39 above: The Dutch and the Danes are two different peoples. The Danes are in Denmark, where the riots are. The Dutch live in the Netherlands, where riots will surely come eventually.
First, In Denmark the Danes live. In Holland (The Netherlands), the Dutch live.
The main cause of the riots is not the cartoons or the publishing of the cartoons. The riots started before that. The main cause it raw hatred against the Danish society who has given them everything. Combine this with police cracking down on drug dealings, boredom you have carbecues, school burnings ect ect.
For me this is slightly better as there are no real cause, just hatred, I do not believe most of the rioters are really Islamic extremists, sure they are influenced by them, but it is certainly no Islamic movement we are seeing.
They just hate the surrounding society and its people. Their violence is not based on Islamic hatred and warfare, just raw hatred and warfare.
Off course if this continues they will be harnessed by a Islamic movement in time, combine this with their ties to the far left, who burned the city last time, you have a very dangerous movement.
The Islamists will provide the muscle and the leftist the brains. Later both sides think they can easily dispose of the others, and history has shown that every time when the islamists and left combines, it is the islamists that triumphs.

Indeed. Unfortunately, here in the States, media generally sees itself as having no higher function than to make money. Standing up to these thugs is seen as 'bad for business'.
Oh, they'll POSE as bastions of principle, all right. That's different: That's GOOD for business.
Fortunately, there are some blogs like this one, which answer to a higher calling.

Actually, some of the people quoted in various wire accounts are blaming the warmer weather, combined with school being out for the violence.
There are none so blind as those who are unwilling to see.
