A Blog For All - Comments - Keep it civil

My fave headline, without a doubt: http://www.bookwormroom.com/2008...the-nookie-jar/

Ack, it doesn't appear correctly. Second try -- it's at www.bookwormroom.com: "Democratic governor caught with his hands in the nookie jar."

Gravatar Yes I can see why party affiliation would be important...hookers and politicians is almost always a Rethug issue....I notice you never mention when FOX replaces the (R) with a (D) when a rethug gets taken down.

Hypocrite!

Gravatar When is David Vitter going to resign?

Gravatar Vitter wasn't prosecuted and the issue arose after the statute of limitations. Vitter should have resigned. He broke the trust of his constituents.

We'll see if they decide to send him back to Congress - which is what the voters did with Barney Frank and other Democrats who broke the law, had sex scandals, and had all manner of ethical lapses.

Gravatar Heck, NY has precedent for reelecting criminals - Democrat Alan Hevesi was reelected by the voters by a resounding majority just last year despite being found to have stolen money from the state. He resigned after he was sworn in.

Gravatar Are you calling for all who partake of the 'oldest' profession to be removed from office?

Then half of Washington will be vacant and the other half unemployed.

Sen. Vitter must go!

Gravatar I must point out that Spitzer is following the play book laid out by so many before him. It is a dispicable play , but seemed rather tolerated when Vitter and Bathroom Boy ran it. What gives? Is America just gonna clean up one side of the street, the one you're not on? This kind of behavior is either intolerable or not. Killing is either bad or not. If any one ever wants to, one can rationalize anything. To stand firm on a set of principles, say like the ones laid out in the Constitution of the United States of America, takes real courage and integrity. One can always be motivated by fear and greed if not dedicated to reason and integrity.

Larry Craig was admonished and asked to step down by Republicans. You don't see Democrats doing that right now, do you? Where's Hillary calling on him to step down or other prominent Democrats to demand he step down - you know the same Democrats who were quick to call for Craig to resign.

And I will point out that I demanded Craig step down that very day when the revelation that he pleaded guilty to lewd behavior and called on the public to toss all the "scumbags to be tossed from office."

When a corrupt/criminal politician deserves to get tossed, I call it like I see it, regardless of party affiliation.

Gravatar And plenty of dems are calling for his resignation so don't get all holier than though!

Gravatar madmatt:

Took them long enough to find their voices. Funny how they rush to the podium to demand GOPers resign when faced with similar situations, but take their time and urge caution and all the rest when it's one of their own.

And yes, the same does apply when GOPers will wait on their own. Yet, we've also seen that GOPers are often quicker to distance themselves and demand resignations of their own.

Gravatar When are the names of ALL of the johns going to be released ?
When are the right wing blogs going to demand to know if any of their own were involved ?

Gravatar Good question, and it would be interesting to see the whole list - but what makes you think that there are going to be republicans on that list?

And more to the point, what if the list pulls out still more prominent Democrats?

I'm not saying I know who is on the list, but I'd be curious in knowing who else was involved - and paying that kind of money to call girls. That's serious money being tossed around.

Gravatar Republicans called for Craig's resignation because he's gay. He wasn't involved in prostitution -- he was doing it for free. Republicans only cared because it involved boys kissing boys and that's gross.

Gravatar Republicans called for his resignation because he abused his power as a Senator and tried to get out of a criminal prosecution by throwing his political weight around. It had nothing to do with that he was outed as being gay.

Sorry, but Democrats seem to be the ones with problems with race, sexual preference, and all the rest - just look at the race between Hillary and Obama - they're busy slinging all kinds of accusations at each other over voters choosing to vote one way or the other because of gender or race. Pot, meet kettle.

Gravatar ummm
Has anyone questioned why the only person whose name was leaked was a Democrat ?
If he is charged or indicted will ALL of the identifiable johns also be indicted ?
The structuring charges must always show criminal intent, and that does not equate with hiding the amounts from your wife.

Gravatar Ask the Times why - they're the ones who not only uncovered that Spitzer was the focus of the investigation into structuring from the outset because of his multitude of payments to shell corps that got his bank to contact the IRS and then the FBI.

I too would like to know who else was involved. So far, we have heard that it might also include the Duke of Westminster, but it wasn't Michael Jordan - as his lawyers announced earlier today.
