Gravatar In New Jersey politics, just as "corrupt politician" is almost redundant, so is "Democratic politician".

It's darn near the only kind they have.

Gravatar In all fairness, I just wanted to state that I saw an AP story on FoxNews.com today that stated plainly in the second paragraph that these folks were Democrats. Or at least the highest ranking ones were..

Gravatar Yes, some reports and media outlets did a better job of reporting that others - that's the point.

It shouldn't be difficult for media outlets to provide that information concisely right after the first mention works just fine - such as "Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ) said..." for example.

Gravatar NJ is a one-party state. People around here know that. Not enough of an excuse, but it's not as though party affiliation is a mystery.

Gravatar And if NJ is a one-party state, does everyone know that these are Democrats we're talking about? Some parts of NJ are actually GOP strongholds, so while the state is generally Democrat (gov, senators), there are quite a few GOPers in and around the state.

One has to wonder whether the 11 arrested were GOPers. Would the headline read "11 GOPers Arrested in NJ Corruption Sting"?

Gravatar I'm always amazed just how cheaply these folks are bought for.

Personally, I wouldn't even consider anything less that 6 figures.

Gravatar Heres "The Rule" if the party is not identified, they are automatically Democrats.

Gravatar Oh, and good catch by the way!

Gravatar The past has shown that the media will identify the political affiliation of non-Democrats associated with scandal or criminal activity.

Therefore, any time the political affiliation is NOT mentioned, it is assumed to be Democrat.

Gravatar I've read so much about the need for "change" lately, that I feel for my old state of New Jersey where I was born and raised and spent 56 years of my life there. It is sad that this once great State has succumbed to political corruption, which means that a "change" appears to be most needed in New Jersey.
