The speech was directed at all involved here. He was trying to shore up support of wavering conservatives/hawks, give the Iraqis the ole "shape up" message and tell the libs that he's included Democrat and ISG ideas in his plan. I see this as the last ditch attempt to straighten out the deadly infighting over there. Given what we've witnessed, it's hard to imagine Shias, Sunnis, Baathist, Kurds, Jihadis and different combinations of all being able to get along.

And, the "shape-up" message includes us. Either you support the President fully or you don't on the entire war in Iraq and elsewhere. And, quit the belly-aching he hasn't done this and he hasn't done that.
