I never really thought of the world wars in that way, but the way you've laid it out makes a lot of sense -- that each of the wars inside each envelope was just an element of a larger, longer war.
I'd like to think the second outcome, that of Islamic reform would be the end of this one, but the reality of it is that the last outcome is more likely.
Islamofascism preaches that Muslims who die in jihad go to a great reward, and young zealots swallow it hook, line and sinker, even the part about the 72 virgins. As long as the maniacs keep producing hate filled, ignorant young adults they'll keep fighting, if that's what blowing up innocent civilians is called, until they're extinct.
Golda Meir's comment about the Palestinians applies to all Arab Muslim terrorists: "There will be peace in the Middle East when the Palestinians come to love their children more than they hate the Jews."
I think the hate will perpetuate itself, and that we're in for an awfully long war.

I'm afraid that you are right. I once believed that the lives of Muslims would be elevated by "trickle-down" from the West. I figured that they would find things worth living for rather than dying for.
I doubt that now.

You are exactly right. I have thought many times that each of these wars has simply been an extention of the previous war.
World War II happened because World War I never really ended.
Vietnam and Korea both grew out of the non-ending of World War II.
Wars have to be decisively won - unconditional surrender. If not, the conflict will rise up to fight you again.
The non-conditional surrender of Japan has resulted in one of our best allies AND Japan being one of the wealthiest nations in the world - same with Germany.
The loose ends are still nipping at us.
As much as I hate to say this to a fellow Southerner - Sherman was right. (I know that's not proper for a Southerner to say). We'd probably still be fighting if he hadn't made Georgia howl. You have to make the entire population scream to end it.

I agree with all yall.
The end of this war will mostly likely be predicated on the destruction of most of the Middle East along with the populations of said area.
By the very nature of our enemy, I predict that this war will have to be fought in a manner much more savage than the two previous wars. To survive I feel that we must reawaken the spirit of Greece and Rome that has laid dormant for too long.
Perhaps we may need to change Tacitus, and in three hundred years the historians will write "The Americans make a desert and call it peace"

Holy cow that was interesting. I don't know about Islam being reformed. I think they are beyond redemption. How did they escaped history and survive against Europe beleifs and practices?
