Amen to that! I have the same opinion on Ron Paul. I'm surprised you haven't had Ron Paul's supporters avalanche your website with hate mail like they did mine the minute I posted something negative about him.
Ron Paul's supporters are a bunch of delusional hacks.

Perhaps it would be more persuasive if you'd address what actually happened, instead of condemning some irrelevant analogy. Dr. Paul was not asked if he thinks that, "9/11 was caused by the Bush administration acting alone or if they had help from the Joooos." He was merely asked to help congressman Kucinich launch a new investigation into the events of the day. And even at that, all he said was, "I'll talk to him (Kucinich) about it." The kid made no accusations, and he did not present himself as insane, or hateful. To respond with the diatribe you suggest would have been entirely inappropriate, under the circumstances of that particular encounter.
As for what other candidates would do in similar situations, we don't need to guess. A quick search of YouTube gives the response from senator McCain:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M...related&
search=
And mayor Giuliani:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4...h?
v=4n7uJnKGTGg
I didn't immediately find clips for other candidates.
To his credit, Giuliani didn't give any ground. But he certainly didn't go off in the manner you insist he would. And in his case, the allegations were particularly vile, and aimed at him, personally.
In senator McCain's case, he seemed to be pandering considerably more than Dr. Paul, though that could just be the difference in settings. And the people confronting him were far more blatant in their accusations. When asked about whatever hair brained "evidence" they said they had, his response was, "send it to me, and I will look at it."
Again, if you have anything to support your implications that Ron Paul is a traitor, please present some evidence. Until then, I'll be in my pod if you need me.

Rich,
Why do you think I care how much money you give to Paul. I love it when moonbats donate money to non viable candidates. That means that bad guys who might actually win have less.
Better your cash is poured down the Ron Paul rat-hole than given to Julie Annie or Hillary.
This is why I encourage Democrats to give to the Breck Girl.

Lemuel,
If guilt by association is your strongest argument, have you read DeoDuce's page?
Mayor Giuliani didn't throw a tantrum either, and they were accusing him of personally committing treason. Politicians very rarely insult anyone directly, even lunatics. If you want to hold Dr. Paul to a different standard than the other candidates, that's your choice. But to use that separate standard as evidence, isn't compelling.

Robert,
Throw a tantrum?
Remember when president Carter was heckled by some communist during a speech and he came back with the a line about how the US had to guard its borders to keep people out while the Soviet block had to guard its borders to keep people from escaping?
If even one of the weakest and worst presidents in the history of the republic can answer a lunatic properly why shouldn't I expect someone like Paul to be able to do the same?
Of course the best reason to consign Paul to the status of comedy relief is his chairmanship of the Neville Chamberlain fan club. But then that is related to his inability to recognize that 9/11 conspiracy mongering is outrageous.

Lemuel,
I get the strong impression you support Thompson. If he doesn't end up shouting down everyone who asks for an investigation, will you similarly attack him?
The context of the situation determines the reaction. An angry lunatic, screaming accusations, deserves the response you suggest. A calm, civil, moonbat, as rare as they may be, does not require the same diatribe. Did we see the same clip? Or do you have one that shows actual allegations being made, and Dr. Paul going along with them? Here again, is the one I'm referring to:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d...h?
v=d91a13Yr3oQ
I see nothing even vaguely resembling the the vitriol of Rosie O'Donnell, Michael Moore, or Cindy Sheehan.
Incidentally, I'll be pushing for Sheehan in her attempt to unseat Pelosi. The comedy alone will be worth it. And a junior lunatic is less valuable to them than a senior lunatic.

Laf... hilarious. Did you even read the link I posted? Of course not. Because you just keep repeating the same tired ad hominem nonsense.
It's clearly ridiculous to point out your many flaws (I'll note our "pod brigade" except for 2 guys have taken the night off), since you don't especially care about honesty, integrity, or intelligence.
Or, if I'm wrong, and you really are a reasonable person, read my links in the other thread, and respond to them here. I'd love to hear what you've got to say about them, as they completely refute everything you've said.
Unless you're looking for some kind of massive Campaign statement that says "TRUTHERS ARE NUTS WE DO NOT SUPPORT THEM" - which would be political suicide, as it would simply draw attention like a laser all over that movement and connect it to the campaign. Duh. But of course, in your mind, the principled thing for Paul to do would be to bow out to the warmonger Thompson?
God save us all.

If Paul disavows the tin foil hat crowd 3/4 of his support evaporates and everybody else starts asking themselves what they're doing casting their lots with people who need to be on medication.
He knows this so he tries to walk a tightrope, but it won't work because everywhere he goes the wackjobs will crawl out from under their wet rocks in order to show the world how much they love him by carrying around their "9/11 was an inside job" signs and telling anyone who will listen that if we would just stop supporting the Jooos the Muslims would love us.

Chuckle. Out of my Atlanta meetup group, only one guy was a Truther. Yes, he was a little out there, maybe too much LSD in the 70s, but to each his own. One ... out of 30 that were there. Hardly "3/4" of his support, or are they teaching you some kinda "new math" wherever you are?
I'd love to see some serious, intelligent discussion of the pros and cons of aggressive intervention. I doubt I will see it here, heh.

Yes I did. Here is what I said:
"Paul's later attempt to slither out of the crosshairs by telling an interviewer that he really didn't support an investigation into 9/11 because you could never really trust the results of that kind of thing anyway doesn't help him. It seems to reveal that he is still willing to entertain the possibility, but doesn't have any faith in any investigative body to get to the truth, so why bother."

I think I'll find a good "doctor" to vote for. Hey,I know, I think I'll vote for "Doctor" LaVey. Whoops, can't do that, he's dead. Okay, then I'll vote for "Doctor" Falwell. Wait a minute, what am I thinking about, he just died a couple moths ago. Okay, then, I'll vote for "Doctor" Dobson. Well, on the other hand, he's about as dead as the others.
Well, the hell with it, maybe I'll think about voting for "Doctor" Paul. I don't know though, he's pretty much dead, as far as his chances of getting anywhere go. So maybe I'll just vote for a plain old Congress critter or Senator or Governor or Mayor after all. I know, I know, I'm lowering my standards, but what the heck.

They know he won't win. Deep down, they have to know it. They are like the Greens-living in a fantasy world. What else can you think about people that will donate money to a candidate (or claim to)just because of something you've said on a blog post?
They want to make a big deal about throwing their money away, and in the same breath talk about how mainstream politicians are fiscally irresponsible.

Patrick,
The Libertarian line is that it is better to vote for what you want and not get it than to vote for what you don't want and get it.
I agree with this up to a point, but there comes a time when you have to look at who is running in the two major parties and decide either which you like best or which you fear most and vote accordingly.
Anything else is a denial of reality and is one of the principal reasons why the Libertarians are not taken seriously even by people like me who agree with much of their platform.

They should actually be mad at Ron Paul. He is doing as well, as a Republican, as the Libertarians typically do in the general elections. By running as a candidate of a major party, he is actually displaying for all the world to see what the depth of support is for the Libertarian philosophy in general.
And that is a real shame, because I agree with you, there is much about the Libertarian philosophy that is admirable, such as their respect for the Constitution.
Maybe in time they will adjust to certain realities and learn the painful necessity of compromise, something that would be force fed on them were they ever to achieve power in any significant degree. The way things now stand, they are seen as too rigidly dogmatic and unyielding in their philosophy, as much so as Greens, or even hard core Communists. People like that never achieve significant support, at least not in an advanced, prosperous, and civilized society. The sooner they learn that, the better their chances of growth.
If they don't learn it, their lasting impact on American politics will be somewhere between that of the Dixiecrats and the Know-Nothing Parties.
