Arriving in Tokyo 7/3 departing for Osaka on the express train on 7/5.I will probably take your advise on the Grand Place hotel. I am a restaurant owner and consultant and would love to see as much as possible relating to food in the short time. What do you suggest? I am doing a solo RTW trip for 50 days. Wally, for food, go and visit department stores basement food markets. Overwelming. For popular and traditional things, go to the Tsukiji market during business day, morning. No need to wake up in the early hours for the tuna. Get there around 10 am, after the subway rush and get lost in the alleys. For restaurants design, there are plenty. A recent compact selection to be seen in the Tokia building at a walking distance from Tokyo station, toward the Tokyo international forum. Go to the basement and upstairs.
