Congrats on the 7th anniversary. I had read about swamp coolers on Homer's site and only really found out what they are when Homer was visiting last week. I couldn't do it...I need AC. Good luck with the Flu Shot.
I don't miss swamp coolers one bit, except for that lovely dead-rotting-fish aroma that spreads after having put new pads in. (Maybe kinda like a female? I wouldn't know.) Ahhh... home.
Archerr - Yeah, they're good when the humidity's low (under 30%) but are worthless for cooling otherwise and giving that July and August is when the monsoons hit out here, well, they ain't much use then other than as fans.
Several years ago, after exclusively living with swamp coolers, I decided that I'd rather be broke and comfy so I had to have a/c as well. Having both is nice, tho since the swamp is pleasant during June.
Pony - EGADS! Yeah, that fish smell! Ick! But brand new cedar pads are great!
