Lenin’s Tomb

I used to live in El Lay....where Cooper writes for the LAWeekly....and for anyone who has followed this troll, his latest bit of apologetics for empire will come as no surprise. He has been a "reasonable" defender of the occupation of Iraq and of keeping troops in country until a "viable" departure is arrived at. He is basically a raging reactionary asshole.

Well, I've never particularly cared for his Beautiful Soul leftism. His Chavez-bashing, his silly remarks about Che Guevara and all the talking points that he malingers on are evidence enough that the man is most concerned with how respectable he appears in emasculated US political discourse.

I stopped reading Cooper a few years back when I realized it had become his mission to scold, lecture and sneer at any demonstration (except of course establishment-supported ones), anti-war sentiment, criticism of US imperialism and all Ralph Nader voters. His writing brims with contempt toward millions of ordinary people who go out on the street and demand simple justice.

Is he the one who has written about how *yummy* the immigrant demo was compared to the *awful* anti-war demos (cos it was all pure, like), or is that just Harry's Place's interpretation of what he's written?

Sorry, I hate following links to the shite written by these people, so I want someone else to tell me. What little I've read seems to tie in with what you said, Laura.

Israel is celebrating 58 years and still going strong.

All of today’s Jew haters will be in the grave when the modern State of Israel reaches 200 years of independence.

You lot will, like the long dead enemies of the Jewish people (Cainites, Romans, etc), vanish and no one will care for your irrelevant theories or views.

Your hatred will rightly find its place in the dustbin of history*

tony - that's the one.

By the way, can someone keep 'Re' talking while I edge toward the phone and call for the men in white coats?

"By the way, can someone keep 'Re' talking while I edge toward the phone and call for the men in white coats?"

ha ha ha ha. Let's hope he doesnt run out with his pyjamas on!

Am I the only one who is desperate to find out what the asterisk refers to?

Perhaps there's some small print coming, that says "Settlements may go down as well as up".

I really do love badly-translated news stories:

From the New Nation in Bangladesh - "About 200 Bangladeshis are vying for the councilor post from different parties in the UK council election, which was scheduled to start on Wednesday.

London, the capital city, becomes the main centre for Bangladeshis for campaigning to elect the future councilors.

All the contestants and their supporters distributed door to door leaflets, T-shirts, election manifestos in the Tower Hamlet Council area, London Borough of New Ham and Camden Town, sources in the expatriates community said.

A bit intense situation was prevailing in Brick Lane, Shade Well between the supporters of councilor contestants as some of the supporters printed T-shirt saying 'Dis-Respect".

The socialist party Respect has strong support in Brick Lane, Shade Well in East London area as its leader George Galloway was elected MP from this area in last election beating Labour MP Oona King as Respect is always against the war of Iraq.

Safi Ahmed, a reporter of Channel S in the UK, said: I have seen exchange of hot words between supporters of Respect and anti-Respect in Brick Lane and Shade Well.

Nasim Ali, a Bangladeshi councilor and former mayor of London Borough of New Ham from Labour Party, said: I am hopeful to win again.

Some 106 Bangladeshis were vying for councilor posts in 17 wards of Tower Hamlet, 33 from London Borough of Newham and 4 from Camden town in London from Respect, Labour, Liberal-Democrats and other parties."

Listen, apart from forging postal votes, what have Lib Dems been up to in this election?

I ask cos I'm in a Key Battleground Area, and I've had Labour putting *personally-addressed* leaflets through the door, 3 or more leaflets from Respect and even one gatefold one from the Tories.

But we've had nothing from the Lib Dems. There is one flat round here showing a Lib Dem poster (actually, that's a lie - it's not round here, it's somewhere else).

Seriously - have they had a poor turnout of activists this time, or have they just (*hehehehe*) not been able to gain access to the blocks of flats in Bethnal Green?

"I've had Labour putting *personally-addressed* leaflets through the door"

Don't worry they've been doing that everywhere. I got two from Labour. Must be desperation or something.

Re:

Don't you mean "Canaanites"?

My secularist knowledge of the Bible appears to eclipse even your own Zionist-Fundamentalist view.

Why don't you go and chat to Paul Wolfowitz or someone?

tony - no need to worry about the Lib Dems. They know which way you're voting.

I have seen exchange of hot words

Oooh. Now I'm all tingly.

Speaking of Jeff Weintraub, this U. of Pennsylvania professor and Norm Geras wannabe has the chutzpah to lecture people about genocide when he has a long article by Benny Morris on his website whitewashing the Israeli army. This is the same Benny Morris who told Ha'aretz:

"The desire to establish a Jewish state here is legitimate, there was no other choice. It was impossible to leave a large fifth column in the country. [...] Even the great American democracy could not have been created without the annihilation of the Indians. There are cases in which the overall, final good justifies harsh and cruel acts that are committed in the course of history."

Interesting. Cole believes everything he wrote in an email group is something strictly private that no one else will ever get to see. What planet is this guy on?

Hitchens caught him out; that's all their is to it. It wasn't "some journalist", it was a top Arabic speaker who gave the correct translation.

Then, unbelievably, Cole goes onto to say Iran is no threat and could easily be defeated in a few days. There's this little thing called a nuclear bomb that they're building, dumbass. Even Jonathan Freedland has fessed up to that one.

There's this little thing called a nuclear bomb that they're building, dumbass. Even Jonathan Freedland has fessed up to that one.

Well, if Jonathan Freedland said it it must be true. Seriously, aren't you scum embarrassed retailing the WMD line twice in a row?

I just realised. I knew that picture of Hitch was familiar - it's you, Lenin, sitting in The Edge last week, begging me to let you leave.

Don't be shrill.

Anyway, thank god for Hitch. He's taken what I once thought of as a vaguely morally credible position on imperialist war-mongering, and completely run it into the ground. Who could have done more than Hitchens to completely discredit Decentism, and with greater vigour?

(closes stray em tag)

it was a top Arabic speaker who gave the correct translation.

ahem! it was persian. As far as I can remember Hitch used translations from English. But what the hec, they're all Arabs anyway.

Well, whatever. He was evidently a better translator than Cole.

What Hitch! He can barely speak English for a hour a day. The rest of the time he heckles and slurs to his bottle of whisky.

This is such a self-indulgent debate. We know that in Dafur at least 200,000 civilians have been butchered, primarily at the hands of pro-government militias and millions of people have been displaced. What we are witnessing is Genocide.

If "humanitarian intervention" is to be opposed what is to be advocated in its place? Surely this should be discussed rather than some irrelevant scap between lousy hacks?

No, the persian speaker, silly.

tony - please! I may have put on a few pounds lately, but I'm not as tumescent or as blimpish as that great white whale.

sorry back to hitch! Yes, I think he wrote an article or something about how some persian bloke wants to blow up planet earth. Apparently he was stone cold sober.

If "humanitarian intervention" is to be opposed what is to be advocated in its place?

Huh? I'm totally in favour of humanitarian intervention. I'm totally opposed to invasion and pillage. Oh, I'm sorry, it's not PC to say "pillage", I have to say "free market reforms".

"Then, unbelievably, Cole goes onto to say Iran is no threat and could easily be defeated in a few days. There's this little thing called a nuclear bomb that they're building, dumbass. Even Jonathan Freedland has fessed up to that one. "

Right, and all those generals and nuclear experts (all flaming Muslim fundies and anti-semitic radical leftists of course) who keep reminding people that Iran is 10 years away from building a nuclear bomb are all wrong. The hysterics on this issue tend to be thoroughly ignorant about the technical difficulties of first, building an actual nuke, and second, figuring out an effective delivery system that won't be thwarted by neighboring countries' (i.e., Israel) anti-missile weapons. I find it incredible that anyone actually believes that nuclear-powered Israel and the whole world is threatened by Iran.

The scaremomongers and warmongers are so desperate for enemies but all they have are 100th-rate petty dictatorships like Iraq and Iran. Where are the really threatening enemy states when you need them to rally the population around? States like 1930s Germany and Japan -- strong, powerful, fully armed, states with a GENUINE ambition to invade and conquer (instead of states with little demagogues mouthing off for their constituents).

an effective delivery system that won't be thwarted by neighboring countries' (i.e., Israel) anti-missile weapons

Israel has a working Star Wars system?

Wow, those guys are smart.

Seriously, however the arguments around Iran's nuclear programme go (I don't see what the fuss is about; or, rather, I do see what it's about, and it isn't about Iran's nuclear programme), I wouldn't over-stress the difficulty of creating some sort of nuclear nuisance once you have the capacity to generate nuclear power. If it can happen by accident (Three Mile Island, Chernobyl), it can happen by design.

Nuclear proliferation is genuinely something to be worried about.

"Israel has a working Star Wars system?
Wow, those guys are smart."

My bad. Poor choice of words. No of course it doesn't. Got carried away. I was thinking of various articles I've scanned thru only in Ha'aretz, the Forward and the Jerusalem Post about Israel's ability to detect any incoming missiles of whatever sort and its readiness for immediate response. Not the same thing as missile defense a la star wars, naturally.

Not the same thing as missile defense a la star wars, naturally.

Probably more in the line of MAD. Which is why the meedja emphasis is so much on the apocalyptic irrationality of "the mullahs" - we have somehow to be convinced that they're mad enough to kick off The Big One...

Here is a link to an article by alexander cockburn, leading up to the iraq bloodbath. He discusses both the aforementioned whales.

http://www.counterpunch.org/ cock...ckburn1114.html

"Israel has a working Star Wars system"

Israel does have an anti-ballistic missile system, and also a pretty good air defence network.

Well, whatever. He was evidently a better translator than Cole.

The word "evidently" suggests that some evidence is available. Care to provide it?

Israel's Arrow anti-ballistic missile system is more then capable of stopping Irans Cold War surplus missiles (with added Persian ingenuity!).

That's assuming they can muster the energy to bring about Tehrans complete destruction in an attempted strike that would kill just as many Palestinians as it would Israelis. Nevermind making the oh so precious Al Quds a sister city of Chernobyl.

Iran just want's to joing the big boys club.

Is there any evidence *yet* that Iran, you know, actually wants nuclear weapons and is working on them rather than on nuclear energy as is their right?

I'm getting mightily sick of the seriousness with which the entire political and media establishment worldwide takes this ginned up crisis when we all know there's nothing at the heart of it.

It's the amazing marxist-switcheroo; Mr. Hitchens--ok he's got some issues--writes a fairly powerful essay about the current lunatic in charge of Iran; and instead of even alluding to the content of the essay--the current Imam's repeated calls for an end to Israel--the marxist does his quick switcheroo and the real issue--the homicidal nutcases who rule the Islamic world--becomes something concerning Cole, another of these islam-apologist professors, who are trying to sell the American public that the Ayatollahs are hepcats too. I imagine there are classes up in Michigan full of bright-eyed little coeds eating this sheet up, sure that shiite muslims are really like good guys under the skin.

Viva Hitchens, even with his errors

Try harder next time, troll. Better still, with that level of racism (see last line) this one should probably be deleted and banned.

shiite muslims are really like good guys under the skin.

Do pay attention. Shiite muslims *are* the good guys in Iraq, remember? It's the Sunnis who are fascists.

There is absolutely no proof that Iran is working on the bomb. None.

What the IAEA have are some proofs that Iran has been hiding a few of its nuclear related activities. For example, to my knowledge, Iran finally acknowledged received plans for second-generation centrifuge from the A.Q. Khan network but denies have receiving a working model (which is something that's being contested by some).

I can think of three reasons for Iran's behaviour on this:

1) "Normal" bureaucratic government paranoia made worse by the fact that the material in question was obtained using illegal channels (with respect to the IAEA). In other words, they might indeed respect the NPT to the letter (meaning that they want a civilian nuclear program but use shortcuts to get there).

2) They keep some stuff secrets because they want to keep their options open "just in case" (if they are attacked, for example). This would respect the NPT although they were preparing to break it in the future.

3) Or just as all the right-wingers say, they are building the bomb.

The problem with option 3 is that it would imply some secret facilities that the IAEA did not discover. If the US administration really believed in option 3, they would not be so ready and eager to bomb Iran, they would be afraid of eventual retaliations by these "secret facilities". [I think on the contrary that they would push for more inspections by the IAEA to discover the location of these facilities.]

On the other hand, as we all know, Iran has important oil and gas reserves. Furthermore the profits from both the US military and oil industries has never been so high.

To anyone not brainwashed by Fox News, CNN, BBC and clones, the conclusions are obvious.

"It's the Sunnis who are fascists."

Hang on, I thought *we* were the fascists and the Sunnis were the supremacists?

Mike a sleazy and whatever else you care (NOT) to call him?

You are a hair and soul splitting mister know all mudministry mysteries in the book aren't you? You are 2 of a kind in my eyes except mikey is too poor to rant fullofftime like you can and never telling how that came about right? Myster sneaky linealonelyan yourself buddy.

"Pabulum" is good, by the way. I look forward to Lenin appearing on Call my Bluff.

Lenin obviously likes sneering at people who are overweight in the west but only shows indifference to the malnurished and starving in Sudan.

Nice guy.

Much like tim / Sandy, who shows indifference to the malnourished and starving in any country that the West doesn't want to invade and pillage, I'm sorry, "free market reforms".

As to piet's latest... is he Francis E. Dec under an assumed name?

http://www.pacifier.com/~dkossy/dec.html

here I am, all prepared to go search a bleak thin and emaciated ref to a kindred spirit but lo and behold, his name in fat font right atop and no slimmer this: 'FRANCIS E. DEC, ESQUIRE:
YOUR ONLY HOPE FOR A FUTURE!'

so far so good.

next i remember this site has featured Oscar Kiss Maerth (first author I made an effort to trace (in the flesh back in those days).

excuse me a minnit while i read on.

ps: I made it into this collection: http://www.ratbags.com/ but hey, some folks think that making fun and light of weightiest darkmost grave and serious matters qualifies them as whorlchimps or sumthin.

Heather B is the sort of numskull who would have opposed intervention in Ruwanda, Kosovo and Bosnia in the name of "anti-imperialism". You're nothing but a miserable appeaser of genocide.

Presumably Heather also "radically" opposed the British intervention in Sierra Leone which helped defend the democratic government against a bunch of limb chopping psychopaths?

not much else left to chop is there? when patrism and/or climate change (talk about circulo vicioso) has turned a place that bleak I'd prefer to look upon them choppers as patients and victims who thrive and multiply when western choppers with that stolen name drone around.

http://mailman.lbo-talk.org/pipe...501/ 037079.html beginning of a looooooooooong thread concerning all this

MPug quoting LouisP
>…He got a head’s up on Yoshie’s articles from a character named Michael Pugliese who doesn’t have the guts to join the FBI outright but prefers to snoop on people as an unpaid volunteer.

. .. so .. .anybody got an accurate cite rather than the (misspelled) 'head's up'?

hey, that's funny, at the cooper convo (site section 'its-those-jews-again/') the word establishment shows up 19 times (observation valid between about 4AM US ((ChrisD post)) and 15.35 continental eurotime).(funny that after I looked for news of an interesting Hamas ideologue/functionary .. no wait I can do better than that, an establishment Pali Bassam Jarrar who wrote a book on the role of 19 in accurate calendarizing and using gematria to reflect the amounts and measures of time flowing past in the described passage ((thought to be a means to stop falsification and making the messenger look good no doubt)) and was taken into custody last september.

'who would have opposed intervention in Rwanda'

There was no 'intervention', humanitarian or otherwise, to oppose. The Western governments either indirectly - US, UK - or directly - France, Belgium - supported the genocidal militias, as they have in many countries aroudn the globe, including the Tudman regime in Crotia who was responsible for the biggest post-WW2 refugee movement with the enthnic cleansing of the Krajina Serbs in 1995.

sorry that was 5.15AM and now is 15.55

Dennis Perrin: And, Yosh, the subject line I chose should clue you in on how I feel about
MPug's scurrying over to of all people Marc Cooper. I trust the troll
feeding over there will intensify soon.

I am not sure if he beat Proyect to it or not but saying 'MPug Rats Out Yoshie To Cooper' certainly shows lockstep. Hell, I've posted on extreme right wing sites. What diff does it make to the internal consistency (or non-)? What you left moving right shows up again where you think you're heading if you do so long and far enough.

so far no better for the heads up than this:
http://mailman.lbo-talk.org/pipe...501/ 037141.html
Mikey makes yall look plenny stupid (see previous post too, it's him on sudan in 2004)

and here he is finally, main event and thanks for waiting:

http://mailman.lbo-talk.org/pipe...501/ 037130.html Mikey in his very own inimitable style.

warning: some folks call MPug 'formattingchallenged' but his priorities lie with reading loads and fast as all too good for peasantry division of labour loving castle occupants must. He has taken to calling himself consigliere. He's as many miles away from understanding people like me as you are myster Leanon

One claims Hitchens wrote a decent essay, and he should be banned? YOu should be banned, Bukharin bubblegum. I doubt you know what the issue izz. Really ah think you have some n-ah mooslim bosses telling you what to write: and they are even more anti-semitic than dixie baptists. YOu don't have any pre-fabricated political categories, clown.

and marx would not have supported the likes of the iranians. dat's fer sure

Is it just me, or are all the trolls posting unreadable gibberish? Now the form, as well as the content, is rubbish.

Is Piet off his meds again?

Dude, what the hell are you going on about?

"Bukharin bubblegum"

yes, yes. Now sit here, the nurse will come in a second. That's a good boy.

Gibberish? No, ah said phuck communists, and phuck islamicists. Is that too gibbery for you, bitch.

Hm, the trolls are really starting to resemble the timecube guy...

You must attack the word bastards who preach and teach evil godism and racism singularity lies, for any singularity brotherhood is mental slavery that desecrates family, village and tribal opposites. Americans are dumbass, educated stupid and evil singularity fools. I will wager $10,000.00 that within the Cubic embodiment of Nature, there are 4 simultaneous 24 hour days within a single rotation of Earth. Acknowledge the math below or go to hell.

4 Day Cube disproves 1 Day God.

Most americans are fairly stoopid and crass, true; at least they ain't spineless, effete, chi chi cabbage-eating vermin like Brits. Sir Elton, Inc. And yr assumption that they are all biblethumpers another red brit-bitch cliche.

And when the muslims start calling the shots for Brit boys and their hos you'll be wishin' some cowboys were around to protect yr sorry ass.

Marc Cooper has always been a plant, as has Jill Cooper, who honed their phony credentials via the LA free press.

If you get a chance, check out youtube or crooksandliars for the footage of Stephen Colbert's performance at the White House Correspondents Dinner.

For Stepehen Colbert check below

You're nothing but a miserable appeaser of genocide.

Now exactly how do you appease genocide? Pat it on the head and say "good genocide, good genocide"? Give it a kiss and a box of chocolates?

Seriously, these trolls don't even bother to explain exactly how the genocide involved in invading and pillaging, I'm sorry, "free market reforming" a country is an improvement on home-grown genocide.

Anyway, the Timecube guy vs. Francis E. Dec in a steel cage. Who'd win?

And when the muslims start calling the shots for Brit boys and their hos you'll be wishin' some cowboys were around to protect yr sorry ass.

This is exactly the kind of person who the Cassandra Complex wrote "Let's Go To Europe" for. Google the lyrics.

"And when the muslims start calling the shots for Brit boys and their hos you'll be wishin' some cowboys were around to protect yr sorry ass."

I thought we on the left were supposed to be the cowards. Just goes to show how folks like you are such lilly-livered wusses. "oooooooohh those Muslims are going to take over western civilization! Gosh, I'm SOOOOOO scared!" Western civilization must be pretty easy to destroy if it can be taken over by a lot of ill-equipped, poor, marginalized people.

We know that in Dafur at least 200,000 civilians have been butchered, primarily at the hands of pro-government militias and millions of people have been displaced. What we are witnessing is Genocide.

I'm sorry, has no-one told you that the current crisis in Sudan is merely black propoganda spread by Mossad? Back to the reeducation camps with you. Lenny, apply the nipple electrodes.

P.

*sigh*

The 200,000 figure derives from a UN report last year which said that 180,000 people had died, all as a result of disease and starvation. They did not offer an estimate as to how many had died violently, although a US commissioned survey last year put it at 'thousands'. This is a civil war between an insurgent population and a repressive government, not genocide.
