What Obama thinks is 'true patriotism' is sheer pandering. Yay, he speaks out about what he thinks are issues with national security! Why the hell doesn't he DO something about them? He's a SENATOR - how about the radical idea of actually working to solve the fucking problems, you boob, instead of using them for fucking election fodder!

Obama never stated nor implied that he does not wear a flag pin on his lapel because he hates his country.
Here's what Obama said:

"Shortly after 9/11, particularly because as we're talking about the Iraq War, that became a substitute for I think true patriotism, which is speaking out on issues that are of importance to our national security, I decided I won't wear that pin on my chest.
Any mention or implication of hatred or contempt for his country? Didn't think so.
