Gravatar About a Beatles iPod, I had wondered about something like that. Hadn't thought of a special iPod, though, but that would fit, like U2, and others (RED). It's just that for the past few weeks I have heard and seen more Beatles related things, tv programs, radio play, the Love CD from Cirque, etc, and it is curious to me that they are all sort of close to each other in time with not much of anything prior to a month or so ago. And Apple Corp. rep saying some month(s) ago that they were working on getting the catalog digitized for online sale, but was mum about details. Think Jobs' generation and what The Beatles mean. What they mean to him. Lennon was even featured on the Think Different posters. Apple Corp recently lost that suit against Apple Comp, clearing the way for working together. I can see this as something Very Big, a major coup. Also notice the increase in frequency of "anti Apple" bad news over the past few weeks from a variety of directions. Why should they all happen about now? Seems like slings and arrows, or rather mudballs and brickbats, which is all the competition can muster. It's just curious. And I think it is possible to connect the dots such that such a conclusion could be divined. The Beatles need to hurry up and do something if they want to do anything at all in this domain. Before too long, there won't be anyone much to market to that cares. They have a chance to extend their message out further to new generations, reenergize earlier generations, a little further in time. They were one of the last to go CD. Now might be a ripe time to make the leap. I would love to see it, but who knows. I am still waiting for a Beatles reunion of some kind. Alas.

Gravatar You make an interesting point about the tech writers demanding that Apple produce a product then being disappointed when they didn't come across as expected. One of my favorite cartoons is from Joy of Tech. The morning after the keynote the Apple fan is banging his head on the wall. Another person asks why since a great new PowerBook did come out. The third person simply replies "It wasn't a Phaser."

I do agree that a lot of people tend to gloss over the keynote and just look for the explosive new products. It is definitely worthwhile to watch the keynote again a few days afterwards.

Sorry you won't make it. I live about 20 minutes from Moscone Center so I will attend (though it gets more difficult year by year). I figure I need to leave the house by 3:00AM to get a good seat. Last year I arrived about 5:00AM and the line was already stretching around the corner of the building.

Gravatar Delusional!

Lots of ‘what if’ made up crystal ball gazing?

Delusional stuff?

Gravatar "We Mac users who've been around through the beleaguered years, wandering through the desert while Jobs played Moses leading us to a promised land...."

Moses????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ????????????????????????????

Oh Dear!

Gravatar Great read. Les! Thanks for your always excellent work.
I also hope for a Beatles iPod, and music. -and the end of all legal hostilities. Apple Computer and Apple Corps are really the same vision. AAPL is Apple Corps, the corporate entity John Lennon envisioned that would work to make the world a better place.

Gravatar What was that?

FACT: Apple stole John Lennon logo!
