The difference is that Howard and Letwin were not being attacked as Jews, but as Tories. They are not "Jewish leaders", but would-be (and I hope "never-will-be") leaders, who happen to be Jewish. David Duff is drawing a false parallel with attacks on people in their capacity as leaders of a community under attack and suffering racism.
