It is interesting that some Arab Jews don't consider themselves refugees. The article does point out that these jews should still be able to sue for their property left behind. With several dozen original Arab countries supplying these Jews there is not one narrative, but many. One common element to the narratives probably is dhimmitude, the idea that they were not coequal historically in their originating countries and had many restrictions on their rights and their lives. Even if some reject the refugee label, it is not clear that the one size fits all label applies, and others could consider themselves refugees.

The other point of the article is that mixing the claims with Palestinian claims is political. I don't doubt that it is, but that cuts two ways. It prevents the Palestinians from talking about what they lost, but it also prevents the Arab Jews from presenting their pov/claims. Whereas "Zionists" (israelis really) may use it, Arabs also use it. It works for the Arab countries too.
