Jews sans frontieres

Gravatar One can be anti-zionist and stll retain one's sense of humor. The Silverman skit is funny!

Gravatar Satirical racism is the thorniest, most dangerous form of humor around. That's why when it's done right, I laugh pretty hard. And it's almost never done right. The joke has to be clearly making fun of the racist and that's hard to convey. Sometimes you make fun of people by imitating their speech, but if it's all 'look at how politically incorrect I am' you're just a jerk.

Uhhh... Sarah Silverman pretty much demolishes that fine line I set above. Some of that was cringeworthy but I laughed at 'get off your fat Jewish asses' (sorry).

Gravatar Sasha Baron Cohen, an observant Religious man that for some reason claims not to be, and his creation Borat, are a fine examples of Racism disguised as comedy.

Anyone that doesn't 'get it' is, of course, someone without a sense of humour.

Unfortunately those that 'get it appear, to me ,to be without a sense of history.

Gravatar As we are well aware, Cohen plays a Kazakh, although he is not Kazakh. Silverman is Jewish and seems to be poking fun at Jews. What is so offensive about her skit exactly?

At the same time, if we watch John Stewart's comments on Israel specifically and Jews generally, we will notice that the suffering of Palestinians does not at all appear on his radar. He very much endorses the idea of Jews as eternal victims...despite the nefarious consequences that this idea continues to have.
Best Wishes.

Gravatar She's assuming that elderly Jews are racist against both Blacks and Muslims. And guess which racism she panders too?

The Great Schlep isn't a joke. It's a mobilisation of Jews behind Obama on the grounds that he supports liberal causes assumed to be supported by Jews in America whilst hypocritically supporting zionism in occupied Palestine. Plus they shouldn't worry because he's not a Muslim.

I haven't seen that much of Jon Stewart. I thought his AIPAC hatchet job was spot on though.

We're gonna have to agree to differ on this.

Gravatar I think there's two ways of looking at it:

SS is a court jester making fun of political ads in general (her exaggerated fear of Obama's middle name, which you just know is a non-issue the right wing shows beat to death) using her usual irreverent humor.

SS is really doing a political advert in her wacky, irreverent style, and basically means what she says.

If there's any dead giveaway, it's the demagogic 'he'll be better for Israel'.

Gravatar I don't like anybody else working my side of the street.

Gravatar Mark,

Maybe you prefer the cartoons in Der Stuermer?

Gravatar Oh look it's Michael Ezra. Not content to collaborate with Atzmon in a smear campaign against Tony Greenstein, he's now trivialising the holocaust.

No job too low for David Toube's assistant smear merchant.

It's Der Stürmer actually and while you were buying drinks for Atzmon and helping him with his antisemitic campaign I was denouncing Mary Rizzo for her grotesque Der Stürmer style imagery.

I don't know where you get your ideas from you fucking idiot.

Gravatar What about Shana Tovah? Would that not be a nice greeting?

Gravatar Once again you've tried to be smart and made a complete ass of yourself showing that you have no values, no integrity and very little in the way of intelligence, and you want nice greetings. Talk to Atzmon, I gather he's "Hebrew speaking".

Gravatar Or as we say in Bonnie Sotland about numpties like Murkey,
Der Stewmer

Talking of tubes,
I see your pal Der Taube has been in the news recently Murkey, and on your fave blog as well -

Stewmers and tubers, wasn't it always thus!

Gravatar Come on Mark, it is a new year and a new beginning.Me and you - we could have a good debate about let-wing antisemitism. You would say it does not exist and I shall give you some examples of how it does exist..how about it?

Gravatar Hmm, let-wing (sic) antisemitism? Would that be Oliver Letwin you're trying to accuse now? You're getting too surreal for me Mikey. I just can't keep up, but as I've said to so many of your fellow serial lying trolls, I've indulged you enough already.

Joe, it's Toube not Taube. I think Taube might be an Elton John collaborator. Toube's more of an Atzmon collaborator. And far from denying having been anti-zionist, he enigmatically makes out that he is anti-zionist now but then you would have seen that on the Socialist Unity's misguided "solidarity with Harry's Place" post.

The beauty of the Return statement isn't that it is anti-zionist but that, unlike HP or Engage, it actually defines zionist and anti-zionist positions. That's the honest way.

Toube simply says he is anti-zionist because he is not comfortable with an ethnic definition for statehood and yet he is happy to promote posts and comments that say effectively, ho-hum what's wrong with Jews having their own homeland whilst conveniently ignoring everything the Return statement, that Toube signed, complained of to establish that homeland.

He also says that the right of return has to be denied because Palestinians want to annihilate Jews. No mention of the Jews that want to annihilate Arabs and do kill rather a lot of them.

He's been writing about himself quite a lot lately which is strange for someone who claims to want anonymity. I think there is a "narcissistic personality disorder" going on there somewhere. And he's joined the hunting pack against this Martin Shaw chap who had the temerity to oppose the boycott of Israel for the wrong reason. He doesn't think it's antisemitic so Hirsh, Geras and now Toube have had to straighten him out. Toube's contribution is to pretend that one person who led PSC when it was in the doldrums following Oslo, epitomises Palestine solidarity activism in the UK and what motivates it. Wait for it, antisemitism. yawn!

Gravatar Me and you..
- This is a recent innovation by Mikey Bonaparte.

Mano a Murko,
tried this ploy with Tony Greenstein with predictable result except, as usual, TG's comments were far from predictable. An education in fact. Here -

Notice crikey mickey's stand out support for right-wing antismetism.

...let-wing antisemitis...
Given the way murkey's mind works
its diffucult to know what this statement means,
but as far as I can tell, the Lett's are not predisposed to antismeitism, unlike some zionists I could mention.

Gravatar You would say it does not exist and I shall give you some examples of how it does exist..how about it?

I am shocked! Shocked, I tell you, to find out there is left-wing anti-semitism going on in this casino!

Gravatar "Maybe you prefer the cartoons in Der Stuermer?"

When this jumped 10 posts overnite I knew the twat patrol arrived.

Gravatar Don't say that, it might be misconstrued. I'm on patrol tonight!

Gravatar Well, I did quote Mikey over it.
