Jews sans frontieres

Gravatar "Can anyone really deny that zionism, in any of its manifestations, is a form of racism?

Richard Witty, a regular at Mondoweiss, can, and does, every day in the comments.

But me, I think I'm leaving that one behind, and becoming more convinced that Zionism is murder.

Gravatar I'm inclined to disagree that this is a manifestation of Zionism. This is a manifestation of Capitalists being grubbing little shits, in a Zionist country. Trust me, here in Britain we'd be turning Dungavel and Yarl's Wood into forced labour camps if we thought we could get away with it.

Gravatar Alex, I think you're right but then the UK doesn't have legions of apologists to help it get away with the kind of thing that Israel gets away with.

Gravatar ISRAEL will order a unilateral, illegal strike on Iran's civil, nuclear sites, probably within the next seven weeks.
November 7, 2009, 7:33AM

Who would benefit from an attack by Israel upon Iran - and what would be the global consequences?

It is virtually now certain that Israel will order a unilateral, illegal strike on Iran's civil, nuclear sites, probably within the next seven weeks.

This will entail the delivery of massive, US supplied, bunker-busting bombs by Israel's squadron of American F16 fighter/bombers and the deployment of the latest, high- explosive, self-seeking missiles from its three German, Dolphin class, nuclear-armed submarines.

The consequences of such an attack are likely to be catastrophic. Iran will immediately respond by targeting Tel Aviv and Haifa with long-range rockets and in both the attack and the retaliatory stages, there will possibly be hundreds, if not thousands, of deaths among both civilian populations.

Contemporaneously, Iran will attempt to blockade the Strait of Hormuz which will bring it into direct confrontation with US warships stationed in the Gulf - an event that is, obviously, an essential element of Israel's strategy to involve America and the world.

The entire international community will likely be affected as Iranian dissident cells will be activated around the world. The consequences of that action will be unpredictable but could be the spark that ignites the first nuclear war.

There is little time in which to now prepare for the aftermath of this unprovoked, military aggression other than to ensure that the Israeli government is made fully aware that all trading and other links with it will be broken, if and when they proceed with their illegal action.

Unfortunately, specific warnings by the Israeli high command as to their intentions, have all but been ignored, by the UN and Europe, as mere rhetoric.

The permanent members of the UN should pass an urgent resolution demanding that Israel takes no military action against Iran, or any other state, unless it is expressly authorized to do so by the Security Council. Should the US use its veto against such a resolution, then we may face disaster on a global scale. It is up to world governments to act, now.

Gravatar what's your source there, nostradamus?

Gravatar if israel is a racist country would the sudanese risk life and limb crossing 2 desserts in an attempt to get there?

This is a good pragmatic solution. The sudanese don't have to beg and live on the streets and they will have to work so that they don't get a sense of entitlement and develop the social problems that come with that.

Gravatar if israel is a racist country would the sudanese risk life and limb crossing 2 desserts in an attempt to get there?

That's an argument not worthy even of Che's old socks.

This is a good pragmatic solution. The sudanese don't have to beg and live on the streets and they will have to work so that they don't get a sense of entitlement and develop the social problems that come with that.

Since you are obviously not familiar with the concept of "refugee" and "asylum" and "human rights," maybe you want to brush up on your knowledge before you make your next apparition.

Gravatar I think, pace Che's 'ghost', that this is precisely the problem with the Pals - they developed, for some unknown reason, a 'sense of entitlement', and jeez, the 'social problems which come with that' have been unending.
you have to laugh.
Will the Sudanese be the trojan horse that ultimately dissolves apartheid Israel?
Of course, the problem with these lesser beings could be resolved in a flash.
Declare them 'Jews', as with all the other ersatz 'Jews' that Israel has manufactured in order to beat off the 'demographic threat'.

Gravatar If they were planning on judaizing the Sudanese and Erithrean refugees they'd have a tough job ahead.
The media here is constantly complaining about those folks building churches and, in essence, being devout Christians.
They are trying to enforce entitlement laws on their labor here, that they'd essentially have to give up their basic labor rights if they want to stay here.
There's also been the widespread practice of banishing workers who conceive an offspring here.
There are more and more converted religious Philipinos and Thais walking around.
Religion plays little part in most Israeli lives and their entitlements, but if you're a foreigner (basically, your judaism via family ties remains unproven), and especially a non-caucasian foreigner, than the only way to gain mobility is by becoming an observant religious jew and raise your children as such.
The special problem that the Israeli establishment has with these African workers is that many of them come from traditional-religious background and are hostile to conversion.
But it's not so simple, many people in Israel and in the political system are glad that the Sudanese and Erithreans are devout Christians, as the establishment here will not succeed in making them "our brothers" who they don't desire.

Gravatar It should also be pointed out that Israel was the big weapons supplier for the SPLA during the 30 year long Sudanese civil war, and supplying Eritrea and Tigre rebels during the war against the Derg and mobilization against Sudan.

Gravatar Correction: Israel Supplied the Derg against the Tigre rebels meanwhile extending diplomatic relations to Eritrea. Played both courts.

Gravatar if israel is a racist country would the sudanese risk life and limb crossing 2 desserts in an attempt to get there?

What an astonishingly stupid statement. So, Cheh, European Jews, who suffered many hardships coming to America in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, weren't confronted with anti-Semitism? And the Mexicans, Salvadorenos, Guatamalans, etc., who risk life and limb coming to America, don't face any racism?

Gravatar 'Since you are obviously not familiar with the concept of "refugee" and "asylum" and "human rights," maybe you want to brush up on your knowledge before you make your next apparition.'

and what would your solution be? Give them a generous welfare check and hope for the best? That doesnt work in britain and in certainly wont work in israel.

ej ' that this is precisely the problem with the Pals - they developed, for some unknown reason, a 'sense of entitlement', and jeez, the 'social problems which come with that' have been unending.'

in your inept attempt at sarcasm you have hit the nail on the head. The palestinians at least in the west bank for the time being are the largest recipients of aid in the world. And where has that gotten them? A corrupt political culture, virtually no economic development and 0 entrepreneurship. But why should they bother building an industry or improving schools or starting company's when there's EU aid?

"Declare them 'Jews', as with all the other ersatz 'Jews' that Israel has manufactured in order to beat off the 'demographic threat'."

right. Thats exactly why the 20 thousand or so falash mura stuck in ethiopia are being denied entry by israel. Despite the fact that 8 thousand are living in halfway camps designed to house immigrants prior to departure to israel.

Gravatar "self-seeking missile"

You know, I think my ex-wife called me that once.

Gravatar "weren't confronted with anti-Semitism?"

As a matter of fact, no. They were subject to social discrimination, yes, and discriminated against within the context of American laws which allowed discrimination at that time.

But compared to the legal anti-Semitism they faced in Europe, denial of all rights except those granted, it was a dream come true.
It's very important I feel, to make this distinction, because it shows what a step backwards

Gravatar And oh yeah, all of which the Jews in America overcame because it is possible to overcome social discrimination.
When the discrimination is built into the very fabric of the country, well, not so much.
And I sure as hell am not gonna stand still for any implications that the Jews had to make Israel because of discrimination in the US. Jews live better here then they ever will in Israel, and much more safely.
Until, of course, people figure out that the same tecxhniques used against Muslims will work against the Jews in the US.

Gravatar marc b "What an astonishingly stupid statement. Well i am sorry, i assumed you where all talking about important things, like institutional racism. Which can be changed. Not everyday social racism which exists everywhere (hello BNP funny how you have grown recently) but means little if such values aren't enforced by the state.

Gravatar "The palestinians at least in the west bank for the time being are the largest recipients of aid in the world." combine the aid the PA recieves with what Egypt (the second largest recipient of US financial aid) recieves and you're still not approaching what the US gives Israel annually.

"That doesnt work in britain"
Says you and the English Defense League http://mondoweiss.net/images/flag.jpg

Gravatar ghost - you have just inadvertently owned up to the Israeli state racism that you came here originally to deny. it can of course be changed but only by abolishing Israel as a state specifically for the world's Jews.

Gravatar Really, Cheh, you must try to do better than that. First, you can't separate institutional and social racism like two slices from a loaf of bread. One can't exist effectively without the other. Second, to the extent that one could separate institutional and social racism, as an academic exercise of sorts, both phenomena are alive and well in Israel, as in the United States. For example, in both countries immigration laws permit, if not encourage, the exploitation of so-called illegal labor. In this example, social racism provides a level of popular support for immigration laws, and the criminalization of immigrants further exacerbates social racism.
