Antiwar.com may live up to its name, but that doesn't stop it from being reactionary and statist. None of the commentary on Israel is anti-Zionist per se (and often spouts the 'tail wags the dog' theory), they don't cover Ward Churchill or Leonard Peltier, and Justin Raimondo even supports the US govt. hunting bin Laden. I still read it for his take on electoral politics and news in general.

Mr. Avnery for the grand finale of his anniversary essay than posits that Israel will turn topsy-turvy, grow wings and fly through the air, and how nice that will be. He oughta know.
As for Avnery's prognostications, maybe his crystal ball was on the fritz. Anyone would have a tough time predicting how it will all end. But the salient fact is that Israel is militarily a regional power that refuses to stop the settlement activities in spite of its best interests. The end result will be that Israel will unwillingly gain a majority Muslim population, as was the case in the Kingdom of Jerusalem--except then the Muslims had no majority votes.
If you ask me, any other fantastic solution, as the Israelis are proposing--making Gaza a Free City like Danzig under international control (and expense!) and palming off the unwanted portions of the West Bank onto Jordan--are maudlin nonsense.
Normally I wouldn't bother, but look at the Talkback. In addition to the US and Israel, no less than 6 countries (France, UK, Italy, Romania, Argentina, Canada) are represented by Zionists crowing about what should be done with people under military occupation or in refugee camps.
