Right on the money, Gabriel. I thought exactly that when I saw the sudden rage over the Teheran woman's death on Zionist blogs.
A further comment: the Iranian protestor was demonstrating against a possibly stolen election. It happens everywhere and no one's life is destroyed by such an event; when it happened in the US in 1999, the people didn't take to the streets to violently protest.
The Bil'in protestor, on the other hand, was fighting a land grab that will leave his people without their traditional livelihood.

sorry but I have seen too many doctored photos, "brutal" stuff that was in fact not brutal etc to take this on face value...suicide bombers and rockets seem somehow ok to use, right?
the anti-semitism of this blogroll and your cloud suggests a not impartial batch of propaganda.

harry angstrom - i can't speak for the others here but i take pride in my lack of impartiality. Now, can you provide links to what you mean by your reference to "the anti-semitism of this blogroll" and explain what it is that is antisemitic about them?
Thanks

harry angstrom is an example of the despicable kind of person who purposefully or ignorantly misuses the term "anti-Semitism" for purely ideological purposes, and sick ones at that. He is nothing more than a hack, and is beneath contempt.

The Video you posted shows how ignorant some people inspired by hate can be. The Uniformed officer is wearing crowd control gear, not what Border Police wear in the video, and btw the protesters were taunting the soldiers but you would not know that because you obviously dont speak hebrew.

It seems to me paradox is in use here, meant to confuse and contort our understanding and our reactions.
First is the assumption of a mantle: WE are THE JEWS. A splinter group asserts that it represents all of the Jewish people, speaks with the authority of the Judaic religion, and is functioning under a divine mandate to seize and hold land in fulfillment of Jewish prophecy. A political model is involved: a nation only for the Jews is necessary in order to provide protection for all of the Jewish people, a refuge from the ineradicable prejudice of the rest of the world's people. Given the reality of centuries old discrimination, institutionalized in the colonial structure of the Western world of Empire, followed by the horrors of World War II, nationalism has come to make sense to lots of people, not just those who are Jewish. So a 'Jewish State' comes into existence and is lauded - after all, this is the way of the western, "white", world, eradicate the indigenous population, conquer more land in war, and declare the victims poor losers, subject to whatever tyranny is exercised by the victorious.
Fast forward into a world where 'prejudice', and the colonial model, is understood as a threat to the survival of humankind. The dismantlement of institutionalized discrimination begins. A president is elected who believes in the Christian Zionist ideology, and apparently acts to bring the world closer to Armegeddon, in pursuit of "manifest destiny", while assuring himself and his buddies control over what are considered resources necessary to drive the economic engine of the country. We end up in a war which ruins the national economy and sends the globe into an economic tail spin.
Israel, the Zionist nation-state, has become the West's spear-head into the Occident, the Eastern world. Criticize Israel, and one is antisemitic - prejudiced against "the Jews". Moreover, 'capitalism', and the predatory activity of those who hold power and exercise it ruthlessly, without consideration of the individuals harmed, can be defended by the same rhetoric. Hiding behind "the Jews," as defined by this world view, are all those who use economic power in such a manner and benefit from the monetary rewards - and co-opt many others without any recognition of what is involved in their wealth. Both "the Jews" and 'capitalism' are demonized by those who suffer the consequences of ruthless power, and defended by the innocent response that neither the Jewish people nor capitalism itself are inherently harmful. Here we are: "Zionists" come into this arena, act like absolute shitheads and provoke the anger and the angst of other participants. (See prejudice in action, folks - my response is intolerant and I hate the way I feel when that happens.) Meanwhile, in Israel-Palestine, Iraq and Afghanistan, people continue to die because of the actions of the US, and the anger here is as nothing to the anger of the world's people.
The Palestinians are "not protected" by their "government" and, in this model, their government is supposed to provide that protection - forget that, in effect, they are imprisoned and have no resources with which to create a functioning polity other than in a reactive and reactionary mode. Another political power is required to do so, if not in Palestine, then in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran. It appears that there is a desire for West and East to be at war, WWIII, brought to you by whom? By what forces? In pursuit of what aim? We've seen how powerful can be just a few with intention, acting in a greater arena in which others are ignorant of such intentions, and without recognition of the need for defense against them.
Paradox, as Edward Teller said (in reference to mathematics), is interesting. A world of human beings, all essentially the same, are splintered into gender, race, national, ethnic or political groups, easily divided and easily conquered.
Unity provides the greatest weapon of all. It can be a weapon sufficient to bring peace.

King,
You're a complete idiot. No let me say it better, אתה אידיוט בריבוע
The soldiers in the video look regular army, not border police. The "officer" has nothing that identifies him as an officer. My bet he is a reserve soldier. He is wearing regular army uniforms, a standard US style chest harness with clip pouches, and carries a standard IDF M-16 (US made) assault rifle with an M-203 40mm grenade launcher attachment, which was the murder weapon.
My memory is the protesters shout at the soldiers, "what are you doing, this is a non-violent demonstration", "the supreme court decided we're allowed to be here" and similar. So I guess you don't speak Hebrew or you are a lier. Either way, your comment typifies the dishonesty of Israel's willing apologists.

This is massively disturbing. The press tries to sensationalize the news, but they seem more concerned about maintaining a pristine image rather than letting the PUBLIC know the UGLY TRUTH that we should face, all these problems in the world that are swept under the rug!

The West will attempt to 'hollywoodify' every western looking Iranian protester possible. And when they have plucked enough heart strings in the west to justify a 'regime change', they will bomb the shit out of these same protesters whilst simultaneously painting them as barbaric animals- Palestinian style.
I'm sure Spielberg is furiously writing the script for a film as we speak called "The Persian Protester" and a sequel called "The battle for Tehran- a NATO soldier's story".

'uruknet' claims the antisemitic gilad atzmon as one of its 'editors', I believe.
Mary Bizarrro might even be on the staff, seeing how popular she is.
A women called 'Gabriele (Zampirini) is the leading light behind uruknet, I think. She often posts to the Media Lens Messege Board, especially bumming up Atzmon's racist filth.
She regards Saddam Hussein as some kind of hero and beacon of humanity for the struggling People of the Middle East.
I just thought jsf might like to know.
There isn't much I can add regarding commets for this article except the usual plaudits for jsf, its excellent contributors and abiding humanity.
all the best

The Iranians arent protesting against a "possibly" stolen election, they are protesting against cleric interference in the political process, of which Khameini is certainly guilty of, amongst other things.
And the reason the Iran situation is getting a lot more play than some other events in the world, is that the protesters cover a wide aray of people from all walks of life, differemt political backgrounds, all speaking with one voice and using non violence to protest.
A shame all the people who support Palestine, cant put their political differences asside, form a united front and do the same.
Something to think about.
