I am sorry to hear about your father, it does sound you are very far away and yelling down a pipe to the rest of us.
I do want you to know that you writing about your mom was a large part of me quitting smoking. It just scared the hell out of me and I knew that I do not want Ruby and Pierce to suffer like you are.

I'm so sorry, LIbby.
You have my prayers, of course.
I lost my dad a few summers ago.
Take your time. And take some time for you, too.
We'll wait for you right here.
God bless you and yours.

Hi Libby, I am new to your blog, just wanted to wish you my condolensces. This is that part about getting old that really sucks. I look at my mom who is 92 and think, how did she get so old, I just got out of high school, yeh, in the 60's...

Libby, my heart goes out to you and your family at this time. Words escape me, right now. I can't think of a single platitude. I can't even offer yuo so much as a bottle of whisky.
I'm sure you're feeling shock, tremendous sorrow, and a good deal of anger right now. But remember, although you see us only in type, we are your blog friends. Right now, we'll support you by respecting your silence. If we can support you any other way, please let us know.

Prayers to you and your family Libby. It'll hit you after the services when you don't "have to be strong" any longer. At least that's what happened with me when I lost my mom. My heart goes out to you!

Well, gal. Dang! I already know about the weird questions, having heard them twice.
"How many death certificates do you need?" is what I wanted to ask back.
On the other hand, and this will sound odd if nothing else,....
you will need two more than you figure on, and so, ya might as well go get 'em now.
One will be fer you.
One is fer something ya fergot.
I know you'll not ferget yer dad.
I don't know ya from adam, but, I'll not soon ferget him, either.

I'm so sorry that you lost your Dad. Really sorry. I know the strangeness of getting death certificates. My 26-year-old son died by suicide almost 15 years ago. Getting those death certificates was a very low point in our lives.
Good luck to your Mom. My husband never smoked, but he did get lung cancer, which had spread to his lymph nodes before it was discovered. He is a seven-year survivor of that cancer. He was given an "almost zero" chance of surviving 2 years, and he appears to be fine now. So your Mom may do well. Meanwhile, the treatments are horrible I know. But have hope.

Libby,
I too am a new visitor. I will be back. You write well and think clearly.
Please accept my condolences on the passing of your father.
I can offer little by way of comfort except to say that I have been through the process with both of my parents. It hurts. It hurts like hell. But time truly is the great healer. Day by day, the pain eases a little until it becomes bearable and we can get on with the business of living.
I will say a prayer for all three of you.
May God bless.
