(1) Your eldest brother might be trying to keep his expectations low fearing the worst. Even so, it's not a good idea to suggest to someone that she won't make it. People have survived stage 4 cancer before. If she feels great, then that's nothing but a good sign. Let's hope she keeps on feeling great.

(2) If john were an actor in pornographic movies, then I wouldn't think that what he said merited a firing. Otherwise....
