I think you have really hit the nail on the head at the very heart of the main difference between Republicans and Democrats. WE (Republican) feel that we are the best judge of where our money should be spent, and Democrats would prefer to spend it for us....on whatever they feel is important. And they strongly object to us getting involved in that decision. They prefer to let the government support many of them, that way they have no responsiblity for how things turn out. They can always say, well I didn't get the education that I should have because of government cut backs. Everything is an entitlement, education, healthcare, probably soon even a 401K. And those of us who worked all our lives so that we would have a 401K will have to give it away to make sure that the people who didn't feel like working can share in our rewards. If that isn't socialism, I don't know what is. When I was in high school our history teacher was trying to tell the kids what socialism was all about, and some just couldn't grasp the idea. So he said,"everyone put a dollar into this bowl......he passed a bowl around the room......then he passed it around again, and said, NOW, just take back out what you FEEL that you need.......believe me, there wasn't anything left by the time the bowl got around the room......Everyone shares equally, NO MATTER how hard they work. So before long what is the incentive to work at all. and that is what happens to a socialistic society, everyone waits for someone else to do the work, because why bother, you aren't going to get one penny more than the next guy....
...there ya go, nea! i don't want to be 'taken care of'! never have, never will!!

my mother when she got divorced she worked three jobs to feed us. One full time, one on the weekends and a small one at home at night.
Minimum wage should only be for like part time or teenagers. I wish they would make that law, but to many bosses will keep their full time employees on it, cuz it's "cheaper" and they can get away with it.
I think we should be a like star Trek and do away with all money. hehehehehe

This country is becoming a nanny state also, it makes me steam. Like you I'm on benefits, I hate it after working my whole life and wish I had other choices, but life sucks sometimes don't it Libby. But like Santa would say Ho ho ho.

I have no problem with those who truly need it getting "welfare". But I have a really big problem with those who just leech off the rest of us. Oh, don't get me going!!...I see these people all the time with cell phones glued to their heads and hear them making one unnecessary call after another- on my tax dollars. I have to work hard to pay my cell bill (and my other bills) and then to see DSS just hand these lazy good for nothings a luxury item like that...
cindy-i have absolutely no problem with it being there...for those who need it, and only WHEN they need it!! you don't make it a frigging way of life, for God's sake!!For generations!! the Lord helps them that help thrmselves, i believe i've heard once or twice!! i was on it for a couple mnts after my 1st divorce when tif was a baby...but that's WHY i got to be head of my dept...i worked for it!
