Ah, but there is a huge disconnect between "wealth" and "work." Most people haven't gotten wealthy through their own hard work, they've gotten wealthy by buying stock and bleeding the profits off of the people who do work.
In context, Obama was talking about letting workers take home more of the wealth that they themselves created. I have no problem with that.

...but obama was talking to a regular guy, like you & me, who was working when he said "share the wealth", not an investor, who does only that for a living...that's the problem i have...but i still like you, thomaslb, this is just politics, you know? i don't want anyone thinking i don't like them because i see things different!

Since socialism has failed everywhere why are you worried? Do you think Obama is so good he actually might be the first ever make socialism work?

Wow how big is her wedding gonna be.
I had 150 people, food, music, the works, and spent about 1200 total.
I shopped for my sisters, she had about 100 people, food, works, and we spent about 3000
Not that much as far as weddings go.
I should be a party planner. hahahahaha for the poor. hahahahahaa

I agree with everything you say Libby......socialism has never worked, it will never work, and the only people who would benefit are the lazy asses who want to get paid for not working. Unfortunately there are a few to many of them around.
But putting politics aside, how you been, girl. I need to read down the page aways and find out what you been doing......

Take a deep breath, and then another. The wedding will go off wonderfully. Trust me, I know. I've been through the weddings of three of ours now- two of the girls and one of the boys. Nothing can throw you once you've had twelve days to plan a wedding along with a reception for 200 guests. And you're in even better shape if the bride is graduating from High School the same weekend, along with her husband...and it helps even more if you are in the process of moving that weekend as well. So, you see, you've got it made- you have just the wedding part to deal with- no graduations or moves...

(1) A big wedding? Good luck. And you're paying for half of it? Well, if I were you, I'd talk to Tiff about the romantic promise of elopement.
(2) Obama scares you? Hmmm. You've voted for Bush, who's led us to a massive deficit that you and your children will have to pay on for years to come, two offensive wars, under false pretenses, that have drained the economy, put us greatly in debt to creditor nations (China, most notably), has rallied the terrorist enemies that the US actually has, has eavesdropped on you and every single other American, who has increased the number of secrets in the Oval Office to record proportions, and you're afraid of Barack Obama? Especially since McCain initially tried to establish his conservative bonafides by touting the closeness of his voting records to the White House?
You're scarred of redistibution of wealth? Well, guess what. You're already underwriting it. Have been over the past eight years, as the disparity of income has suffered the greatest divide in our history. You've already been giving up your wealth, but not to infrastructure, or (gasp!) any welfare mother stereotypes, but to the financial concerns that have been backing the neocon movement for years. In fact, you did it twice over the past eight years. The first way was the devaluation of the US dollar, a direct consequence of the war and its no-bid contracts, that had the effect of raising the price of everything. You did it again when you bought up the bad debt that banks accrued from their aggressive practices.
And you're afraid of Barack Obama? Even McCain has said he's not afraid of an Obama presidency.
I have seen a number of rallies, many of them in Ohio, that really begin to resemble Klan gatherings, with calls to murder Obama because he's an alleged "terrorist."
Look, I really don't care if you vote for McCain. You're perfectly within your right to do so, and I can understand that. But I would hope that you would have the integrity and intelligence not to buy into wanton, McCarthyistic fearmongering.

Weddings, as long as the bride, the groom, the person doing the cermony and the 2 witnesses are there, everything else is just gravy. Many brides and family forget that.

If you are one of the 5% that are going to see an increase in taxes under Obama, I should have been a lot nicer to you throughout the years The people that are going to see an increase are people like the CEO of my company who makes 2.5 million dollars a year. Do I have a problem with that? Not really. He isn't doing much trickle down...he is more banking, investing and buying his new wife a porche.
I like that senior citizens won't pay a dime in taxes up to 50 grand..about time someone does something for these people. Yes, capital gains will go up but it will go back to what it was before the cuts that got us into this stupid hole in the first place.
There are plenty of tax calculator on line comparing both plans. If you need a link to one drop me a line,

The point isn't one of politics. Nor am I attempting to change your political decisions. As I said, I have no problem with voting for whomever you wish to vote for. But fearmongering and demonization aren't things I respect.

Libby, good luck with the wedding. And everything will be fine, weddings have a way of working themselves out. And it's the marriage that counts in the end, right?
Thanks for the email today, you and my cousin think alike, got the same link from her. (And it was more yeses than nos when I voted.)

Who's attacking you? I certainly am not. And as I said, I don't care about your beliefs. I haven't attempted to persuade you one way or the other. I'm simply pointing out a problem that I see growing from current political tactics. I've pointed this out on all sides, incidentally.

I don't want to share the wealth I just don't want to be propping up fatcats so they can keep screwing me over. If you do well and make lots of money OK, but don't ask for me to help when you won't help me, the much poorer guy on the totem poll.
the other thing is that the last 8 years showed some economic growth but it seemed to be much harder for the little guy to make a splash. the growth was all the people at the very top which always happens but this time it seemed worse. Wages were flat while the cost of living went up and the standard of living went down. Now if things are going well I'm not saying there should be handouts. BUT don't make it corporate policy to stop giving raises to the hard working rank and file that deserve a raise while the guys at top give themselves billion dollar bonuses for wearing a matching shirt and tie.
While Obama scares you Palin scares me. The cycle never ends.
How big is the wedding. Soundslike you too are in need of a weekend like I had. LOL!!
