Someone please suspend this moron's posting priveleges. He add's nothing of content to this blog other than third grade humor.

Your right, I need a good talking to by the trolls. Why else would I post this?

Hey Jimmy did you have as much fun as I did touring wingnuttia today? I love the smell of extreme right winger panic attack in the morning. It smells like victory

ps: you checked out http://www.mainandcentral.org yet?

Jimmy, don't listen to that Punk.

Right, don't feed the trolls.

Dave - With Bennet being found out to be a racist right wing nut case (again) and Scooter not able to keep his pie hole closed and Delay and Blunt under fire, it's marvelous in a sad sort of way.

The blog-o-rama is replete with wingnuts in terrible shape. Defense mode doesn't fit them well. Primitive. Looking for guidance (talking points) but not getting squat.

It was a stellar visit to the news and blogs today.

Bill Bennett has done more to create equal opportunity for the black community than Jimbo the psuedo-Vet will ever do to further the cause of moonbatism (and lord knows, he tries hard). Bennett's as much of a racist as JV is a teetotalling, book-burning, Bible-thumping, wingnut.

You're ignoring context JV (and you're usually so careful with what you say!).

Just grab the sound bite that justifies your anger. Do you work for the post office by any chance?

"With Bennet being found out to be a racist right wing nut.."

This kind of thing is what separates the bats from reasonable people and will forever condemn to playing with their little bat pee pees in the grotto.

I'm not going to debate it here-again READ UP-something besides the left wing swill that seems to be an addiction around here.

He was responding to a hypothetical question, said that anything like that would be morally reprehensible and didn't even draw a gasp or a ripple from his audience because they know what kind of person he is and were able to listen to the context in which he made the remark.

You folks and your bucks and eyeballs media pimps are going to be standing on one foot again in tiny blue atolls and wailing for mama
next election if you keep this kind of irresponsible bull shit up.

Sorry I forgot...

Context people context. So here's the context:

He contradicted himself. He started by trying to confute the claim in Freakonmics that legalised abortion had reduced the crime rate because it prevented children being born into singled parent, and or teenager headed, and or low income, households.

Then he went into his spiel which was race based. And yes I read the transcript and yes he did make a kind of disclaimer. Thereby agreeing with what he just disagreed with.

OK you could argue that he was making a reductio argument and is being unfairly pilloried for it - which I think is what mikey is getting at. But to what extent does that objection hold up?

The sad fact is that for historical reasons the majority of black households in the US are poor. They have been kept down. They have experienced discrimination which is quite frequently either thinly disguised or overtly based upon the colour of their skins.

He misspoke alright - if you buy into a stereotype, and he did, you should take the consequences of getting caught. I'm not saying that he's conciously racist 'though it's a reasonable charge to level in the circumstances. But it seems to me that at the very least he and many others like him are unwilling to even attempt to undo the damamge caused by racism.

So the question arises why not?

If mikey would like to produce evidence factual evidence rather than an assertion and an accusation of Jimmy being selective in what he quotes /* pardon me a moment while i roll around laughing it must really smoke you guys to have your own weapons turned against you */ cool go ahead. Otherwise if the tinfoil lined cap fits …

"He misspoke alright - if you buy into a stereotype, and he did, you should take the consequences of getting caught."

I listen to Bennett in the morning, and he certainly wouldn't agree that he bought into any stereotype. He made a hypothetical statement based on facts. When ABC asked him why he would link race to crime, he was amazed at the ignorance of the question. My paraphrase of what he said is "Of course race is a factor in crime. A disproportionate number of blacks are committing crimes and are victims of crimes."

"If mikey would like to produce evidence factual evidence rather than an assertion"

If you would have watched Hannity & Colmes last night, you would have heard Dr. Bennett describe his resume (and you would have heard a great comment about Ted Kennedy!!). The clip is out there somewhere. Do your own homework Ire Man.

Making race-based statements does not make one a racist.

Try answering the question mikey. Deflections based upon verbiage won't cut it.

Here it is again:

But it seems to me that at the very least he and many others like him are unwilling to even attempt to undo the damamge caused by racism.

So the question arises why not?

Him dscribing his resume doesn't cut it either.

Facts mikey facts.

Bill Bennett has done more to create equal opportunity for the black community than Jimbo the psuedo-Vet will ever do to further the cause of moonbatism (and lord knows, he tries hard).

Try hard? Who needs to try hard when they make it so damn easy. Pseudo vet? How many years did you actually do anything for your country Mikey-Troll? We can get together and compare DD214's and see who has the most service. But don't bother if you can't produce.

He was responding to a hypothetical question, said that anything like that would be morally reprehensible and didn't even draw a gasp or a ripple from his audience because they know what kind of person he is and were able to listen to the context in which he made the remark.

He said what he said and that's all that he said. I read the transcript too. He panders to his crowd like all the self proclaimed conservative radio hacks do without thinking ahead of time what people outside his sphere of egomaniacal influence will do. Arrogant and uncaring, stereotypical and just flat out fucking nuts. And his callers are just as nuts.

BRT - You are right. Time will tell, not the trolls.

Mark, first a lot has been happening for a very longtime to attempt to undo the damage caused by racism but that is tangental to the discussion.

I didn't hear the discussion, just highlights of it, but it seems to me that he could reasonably make a claim or agree with a claim that abortion had reduced the crime rate by preventing unwanted children from being born into single parent households-black or white, poor or not.

From the discussion it seems apparent that he was, indeed, making a reductio argument.

The "misspeak" was the fact that he had anything at all to say on any subject that might possibly expose him to a charge of racism, not matter how ridiculous the charge was. He should know the bats and their media pimp allies better than that by now.

I don't think the bats could find a less racist person than Bill Bennett in their own grotto, let alone in responsible public positions.

As they say in Texas--"All hat and no cows..."

"But it seems to me that at the very least he and many others like him are unwilling to even attempt to undo the damamge caused by racism.

So the question arises why not?"

Ire Man - Why do you get to make unfounded statements (he and many others like him are unwilling) and expect people to answer?

You aren't asking a question as much as you are making a statement that is untrue. Facts, Ire Man, facts.

From the discussion it seems apparent that he was, indeed, making a reductio argument.

Holly Crap Batman !!!
I agree with BRT...
Has the world stopped spinning?

Naw, the "Reductio ad absurdum" explanation fits when one considers the evidence. Stupid argument uses fantastically stupid example.

It was an irresponsible example to use. Bennett should have known better than to suggest, even as a reductio example, the abortion of all children from an entire race. That's just asking for trouble.

Wasn't this in the Bible?

~

As they say in Texas--"All hat and no cows..."

Actually that's "cattle"....

Thanks sgo. Glad you agree with me...

He failed to add to that statement that most states educational statistics would grow by leaps and bounds.

Not that it's appropo but a reporter once asked Georgia governor Herman Talmadge--" Governor, if Georgia's such a wonderful state, what do you make of the fact that an increasing number of Georgians are moving to Florida?"

Talmadge replied: "Well I'd say that kind of movement should be encouraged since it increases the intelligence level of both states".

Kind like any South Carolinean dumb enough to move to any state in the ever shrinking little blue la la land....

If there's one thing worst than a racist, it's a racist who's too cowardly to admit what he really is.

And out-of-context is the magic word these days.

not sure what you mean ski?

oh im sorry..you are the "jap" hater.. you speak from experience. Sorry i forgot about you

Dave...

Billy Bob Bennet can explain what a racist is to you if your dome is clouded.

Oh hell, here, take a look...Websters makes it pretty clear...

rac·ism Pronunciation Key (rszm)
n.

1. The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.
2. Discrimination or prejudice based on race.

racist

adj 1: based on racial intolerance; "racist remarks" 2: discriminatory especially on the basis of race or religion [syn: antiblack, anti-Semitic, anti-Semite(a)] n : a person with a prejudiced belief that one race is superior to others.

-----------------

The racist is so firmly entrenched in his/her personality that after thought training as a youngster and leading into adulthood the fact they they are racist is no longer felt to be a problem. Sometimes it is not even felt by the racist be the truth. Life goes on for them and the these thoughts are passed on to the next generation of racists.

It doesn't take much to be one. It takes some courage and acceptance and good exposure to the negatives of racism as a child by caring parents and family not to be one.

I was lucky that my dad was a musician and we had people of all colors around the house for rehersals and in his bands in the early 1960's. My first exposure to racism was at age 5 when my best friend's parents wouldn't let me play with him or even enter their yard because we had african american people coming in our house and their neighborhood. It wasn't unti a few years later that I really understood.

Those who deny racism as one of the primary reasons for poverty have a cerebral anal inversion and there is little to no hope of prying their head from their ass.

Your argument coming up next should prove my point nicely.

"Those who deny racism as one of the primary reasons for poverty,,,

I really don't like this thread at all. I don't like it because it deals with a very sensitive subject that can subject any comment at all-no matter how objective or untainted by racial bias(see Bennett 101)-to ludicrous addle headed bat chorus charges of "RACISM RACISM!!-I seen him when he done it!!

Even so Jimmy. I assume you were talking about poverty in this country-not Central or South America-Africa or India?

so top its ok to use the term "japs" in a derogatory way such as ski does on a daily basis when referring to malkin?

And im sorry but if condy was a democrat and bush called her kindalazy ricen, what do you think the outcome would be? Do you think that not one democrat would cry racism foul? I think you can try and convince yourself all you want but you obviously know what the truth is if you are what you say you are.

Im sorry you can spin it anyway you like it but you cant convince me that what he did was any different than what i did.

The 2006/2008 games have begun, its quite obvious. Your goons may have struck first blood, but i assure you our side does it better!!!

Looks like the ad hominem attack business has picked up considerably around here since I hung it up.

You're welcome to it though, guys. My blood pressure is down considerably and I sleep better at night. Besides it only gets in the way of making a decent point-doesn't help a thing.....

BRT - Thanks for pointing out Dave's problems.

I didnt think you were worthy of a response topjimmy

Funny most of the people here think the same thing about you Mr. Parrot.

And Dave don't forget to SMILE!

except ,,,,uh...you....topjimmy........sgo...You have yet to not respond. Actually no response is better than any of you have had to offer.

But just maybe this mess will set a precedent to get politicians indicted more often for abuse of power. That would be nice to have later on down the road.
