Man I've got to stop posting after partying.

Ya ya, dark day for America, weep for the country, hope for our country. I'll be doing all that. But there is a time for celebration, no matter how brief.

Just don't post when inebriated. I apologize for my poor speeling.

Actually it was a great improvement, Jimmy.

As far as content goes, the trolls hereby baptize you..

Sirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....... S--T---R---R---R---E--E--T----H----H.

But I guess you knew that when you plucked that little jewel out of the bat sump...

----C----- (crap)!

Sometimes I swear I've seen your comments somewhere before...

I'll find it and let you know.

I figured you would kick a man when he is down. Why would you do that? Why is a sincere apology having to do with anything cause you to behave this way? Where in the world did you learn to be such a sorry, bitter human being?

Oh ya...your blog. You keep hitting reverse and repeating the same tired critiques.

"I figured you would kick a man when he is down."

Sorry, didn't know you were "down". You guys were having a wonderful time romping on Libby, wingnuts and everybody else for the past day or so.
And most of it sounded pretty bitter to me.

Anyway, hope you feel better......

It sounded bitter to you because you project your feelings onto everyone else. You're a bitter old man with a lot of regrets, so you assume everyone else must be the same way.

Is "romping" the new wingnut euphemism for what his big butch cellmate is going to do him a couple of times a night for being part of a criminal conspiracy against his country and then lieing about it on oath ?

jesus. how old is cheney? or is that second DWI in the future?

Cheney's been DWI every day for nearly 8 years now, UP.

Dueling With Idiots, that is...

The kick a man when he is down comment was my latest attempt to communicate between the lines with you BOM. Amazing that your new nickname's initials are BOM. Perfect for the warmonger inside.

Come on BOM, read between the lines and see if you dicover anything.

"You're a bitter old man with a lot of regrets, so you assume everyone else must be the same way."

If I had a lot of regrets, Ping, I'd be pretty selfish and hard to please. I hope this doesn't sound
arrogant but I basically went from nothing to a successful career in newspaper publishing and,
after retirement, 2 successful operations-a sporting magazine and most recently a profitable sporting travel agency that we still operate from home.

I was lucky enough to land a wonderful wife with a college major in voice, beautiful and talented enough to place in the Miss Georgia pageant. We have 2 great kids, 3 grandchildren and will celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary next year.

I've said many times that I am not a Christian myself but I was raised in the church and was taught that the New Testament is not about hatred and killing people but rather about Christian love, understanding and forgiveness. My wife is a strong Christian with the kind of faith that has helped us though many trials over the years and has endowed our children with solid moral anchors to guide them through the kind of environment today's kids face in the moral/ethical sewer and giant Hustler supermarket that this culture has become. Frankly I don't think any of you could spend 10 minutes with her and come away with the impression that she is any kind of "Jesus Freak"-the slur that is bandied around here so often. Fifty plus years of hard cigarette smoking and scotch drinking have left my body and mind in a lot better shape than I deserve and our children have enjoyed good health and success in their own endeavors for which I can only be thankful knowing the tragedies that so many of our friends have suffered in that regard.

"Bitterness" is another matter :=). But it isn't directed at the people here, rather toward the institutions and mindsets that have transformed this country from one where it was safe to walk down any street at night, to take your kids to a movie without having the words M...Fk...thrown at them a dozen times, to take them to school without any concern that they might die from a sniper bullet- and one that put aside political differences and stood together in times of common danger, to what you see around you now every day.

And before anybody starts in, I am not a racist, a sexist, a homophobe or a xenophobe. I've been around too long and had good associations with too many fine people of all races, genders, nationalities, sexual and religious orientations to carry that kind of baggage around with me.

That's pretty much where I'm coming from here and on my own blog, such as it is. As I've said before, I just enjoy the fray here and try to keep my comments impersonal while working hard to live up to the high standards of professional curmudgeonry and good natured trollism that I've set for myself :=)

Speaking as an erstwhile professional writer and editor, I've never met a publisher I liked. They're all (at least) a little crazy. It explains a lot about you. =>p

That said, thank you for your honest and human answer. Peace be upon you.

Thanks, Ping. As I'm sure you know, editors and
publishers aren't really supposed to get along
too well anyway.

I worked with about 8 sets of editors over the years and although we had respect for each other our relationships were always something like the hillbilly that married a mountain lion. "She never did get used to him".

They were all great people, dedicated and thoroughly professional. The only problem was, of course, that they were always dead wrong :=)

BRT-

Why do you hate freedom of the press and individual rights?

Why do you hate the constitution?

Why don't you support a free press?
