"I was excited like no other US player has ever had me excited before." Heh.
Nice review. It's got to be the first time in years where our 2 primary attackers forwards rate as our best players, but I guess it's probably true.

Yeah Freddy ignites the same type of excitement that Jeff Agoos' hair used to give me.
As for our attackers, Johnson has been playing well but that still hasn't translated into goals and I still question if he can do it against top competition. The lineup I'd like to see is:
Howard
Cherundolo Boca Onyewu Pearce
Donovan Clark Bradley Dempsey
Adu
Altidore
and see how we do - our best attacking lineup would probably substitute Beasley in for Clark and play Donovan and Bradley as central midfielders and Adu as a withdrawn forward/playmaker but that leaves us really weak defensively in the midfield so we need either Edu or Clark in there and only 2 of the 3 of Donovan, Dempsey, and Beasley (or you could take Bradley out as well).
I was hoping we could see Adu, Altidore, and Donovan out there from the start against Argentina on Sunday but unfortunately Altidore is hurt so he won't be playing. On the other hand, Wolff isn't on the roster so as long as Adu starts, we're coming out about even...

Solid lineup, although, I would def. Replace Clark with Edu with no questions asked. They're similar and Edu is better.
Health permitting, I'd probably but Beasley in over Dempsey. You've already got 2 better play makers than Dempsey starting and although Beasley's touch has completely sucked recently, he's a smarter player than Dempsey and his runs remain dangerous, and without Johnson/Wolff/Mcbride (all good decoy players) up top, it would be more important to have someone to make runs out of the midfield than to have another touch-y playmaker.
