This looks tasty - I'll have to give it a go. I've read that the Japanese sometimes eat their Soba noodles cold. What's the temperature deal for this recipe?

Hi Ollie - thanks for dropping by! The cold soba noodle dish you speak of is called Zaru soba. It is DELICIOUS in summer.
With this recipe, I rinsed the cooked noodles in cold water and then let them drain...so I guess that would be about room temperature. Hope that helps!

This was GORGEOUS! I was reading your blog whilst skiving at work today and decided that this was what the boy and me were going to dine on. I will now live on this dish every day till I tire of it! Yum! We had it with a couple of smoked tofu 'steaks' marinated in garlic, chilli and ginger and sesame oil and then thrown on to a hot skillet.
Fab blog by the way. So glad the Guardian found you and put your link on their food blog!

Lovely recipe - an easy Japanese meal is a fine, fine thing. While it's cold and wintery here in Australia, I have all these ingredients in the cupboard, along with some edamame beans in the freezer, which I thought might be a good addition. Thanks for the recipe.
