Yes. Juan Cole's article is pretty much the way I remember it as well. We would not be here if people had not come out in the streets early last year and given the administration a fright.
I'm not a huge Juan Cole fan. He really can't be said to have been definitely anti-war before it started. (I quit my phat, phat job the day the bombs started dropping).
Cole is also hopelessly Western. I try to be an alien, and see the world as an alien might. Death to all religions! There simply is no god.
Anyway, its great to have Iraqi bloggers around. I'll check back.
Oh, I _am_ a huge Robert Fisk fan. And I (at least used) to be a really good "close reader" (term I heard applied to Bob Somerby) of US politics.
