Wow — I would be hard-pressed to disagree more.
The Vietnam War was indeed illegal, and was illegally foisted upon not only the Vietnamese people, but also the American people, by a lying, manipulative President, and I'm referring to LBJ, not Dubya.
However, to say that McCain "has no moral compass" because he fought in the Vietnam War is entirely over the top, and it's exactly the sort of "blame the soldiers" rhetoric that caused so much grief during and after the Vietnam War. Senator McCain has repeatedly demonstrated a willingness to stand up for what he believes is right, even on occasion standing up against a President from his own party. McCain's anti-torture amendment alone guarantees him a place in the history books. That only makes his recent guile all the more appalling.

i agree, mccain is pandering to a dangerous vision and to an illegitimate "spoklesman" for republican values. by going to liberty he, indeed, is granting legitimacy so far illuding jerry falwell. it matters not what the spin is. he is definately running the road to being a butt boy for the right (look at his stance on abortion). verily he is shrewd, he doth knoweth precisely what he doith and i condemneth him for this move, but also his stances on abortion, irag war, nuclear, star-wars technology, and etc....

Actually, McCain has been pretty solidly opposed to abortion for his entire career, so that's nothing like Hillary Clinton's unprincipled pandering support for the flag burning amendment, for example.
McCain's support for overturning Roe v. Wade is one of the issues that give me pause about his candidacy, but it's not one that makes me question his forthrightness. However, openly embracing someone he called an "agent of intolerance," when that man has not changed and has, if anything, deepened his intolerance, is naked pandering, with no wiggle room.
