Gravatar I agree with most of your comments, except for one glaring exception (which I guess is excusable given circumstances) - you say that Kuala Lumpur is in Indonesia, while in fact it is the capital of Malaysia. Although the two countries have much in common (predominantly Muslim, very similar language) they are not the same.

Gravatar Yipes! Hazards of posting at 4 a.m., I guess. When I'm awake, I really do know the difference between Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur. Thanks for the correction.

Gravatar What happened to Josh Rushing? Is he still on AJE?

Edited By Siteowner

Gravatar Yes, Josh Rushing is still there. I don't think I've caught any of his reportage, though.

Gravatar I take it these brave steps taken has no economic implications? Just wonderin'.

Anyhoo, it's apparent, isn't it...once again, that the lumbering dinasaur known as TV is trying it's best to play catch up: by whipping a nation of even bigger sloths and spoilt insulates into aware and somewhat affected humans?

Good luck Al Jazeera...u may yet be CNN-ified.

Gravatar There's no danger of Al Jazeera's being CNN-ified, at least until they get picked up by the U.S. cable TV operators. Right now, you can only get Al Jazeera English in the U.S. if you have a big satellite dish (not a mini-dish), or else over the Internet. I think it's bizarre that it's easier to get Al Jazeera in Arabic than in English.

Gravatar Why the hell would I want to watch Al-Jazeera English? I'm not interested in a terrorist propaganda network, thank you very much. Why the hell don't they just call it the Terrorist News Network? At least they'd be honest for a change.

Gravatar Maybe you should watch Al Jazeera English to have some idea of what is actually happening in the Middle East, not to mention South America, sub-Saharan Africa, southeast Asia, or any of the other places woefully undercovered by the US-based media. Maybe you should watch AJE to see through the propaganda you've been fed, and that you're regurgitating here.

Al Jazeera English is anything but a terrorist propaganda network, as you would doubtless know if you had ever watched even a millisecond of their programming.

Gravatar I get Al Jazeera English on a 30 inch dish. It's called free to air and you need a receiver which usually costs around a hundred dollars. It's on the satellite at 97 degrees west longitude. Legal and free. Great programming. Not the point of view Americans are used to, but the notion that it's promoting Al Qaida is absurd. I've been a regular viewer since its launch in 2006.
