THANKS FOR YOUR COMMENTS!

I don't know you're style all that well. I just used my plain ol' Old Navy sandals for plunking around Europe last summer. And my Chuck Taylors. Worked for me. But my friend Heather got herself a pair of THESE and they seemed to work well for her...

ha ha.

I tried those sandals on yesterday, actually. They were alright, but I didn't love them. If I'm going to spend over $100 I want to LOVE them.

I have a million pairs of Old Navy sandals, but I don't know if I trust them to not mangle my feet after ages standing and walking. It's interesting that you wore them and found them okay. THanks for the info.

I'm planning on wearing my pumas a lot of the time, too, but I figure I will also want a cooler shoe sometimes too.

whatever....

Gravatar I recommend the ones in the picture above.

Gravatar when are you going to Europe?

Gravatar I need a lot of cushion, and I acutally found a pair of flipflops with a bit of a "heel"... I have had them for 2 summers now, and they're still my most comfortable pair, I can wear them all day (at wonderland for example), and they're soooo comfy. I see tons of them around now, and even Old Navy has tehir own version, check them out!
Cheap too! Buy a pair now and try them out for a while... see if they'll work for Europe.

Gravatar i hear that merrells are supposed to be fabulous for this kind of thing.

Gravatar merrells tend to look...a little....sporty, although they do have some okay ones (like the pair amanda linked to).

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll take it into consideration and I will post what I decide on.

Paul, you're a jerk. And I'm going to Europe from June 29-July 26. Why do you want to know?

Gravatar This is so funny.. because I LOVE Keens and Merrells and I have a pair of Keens similar to the photo (except open toe so not as much like ar unning shoe) and they are heaven!

I think you may have to suck it up and buy a really good pair of sporty sandals. FYI though - last year at MEC they had a line of sport sandals that were brown leather and so looked a little less sport-like and good for going with khakis/jeans.

Does that help?

Gravatar you got birks??? i thought you thought they were ugly....

Gravatar some birks are quite ugly. the slipper kind, and the ones with tons of straps and that are pretty unattractive. The traditional two-strap ones are pretty standard-looking, but I found they looked really bulky on my foot.

The style I chose (the "Madrid") isn't as bulky. It's a more delicate sandal, with the Birkenstock base (which is supposed to be good for my feet, which is what I was looking for for all my walking and standing this summer).

So yeah, some Birks are bad. And even the ones I bought aren't my favourite shoes ever. But I was getting tired of looking.

Gravatar ...and they're nowhere near as bad-looking as keens.
