Gravatar ...'swear like a longshoreman'...

Oh, the incivility of it all...Quick! To the fainting couch!

;>)

Gravatar Love it. Bozo and Gonzo, together forever.

Gravatar i have since beginning to study the instrument been dealing with people's assumptions to my sexual orientation because i play the harp. i have tried going historical on them (king david, siegfried, lancelot, parsifal, all manner of ring tailed warriors who played the harp for their ladies), i probably have done my share of over compensation over the years. but, here's the thing, regardless of anything that lying harriden (great word that one!) coulter says, she said it not only to denigrate and insult john edwards she also is insulting anyone who objects to her rude and inexcusable behavior. on a very pragmatic level she has no reason to mind her tongue. she's gotten yards and hours of press off of this. that to me is the real shame. that she has been, is now, and continuing to make her fortune by being viciously rude.

Gravatar I just read Edwards won't be at the Nevada debate broadcasted by Fox News. Freeze the fuckers out.

Did you hear to George Will refer to Ann Coulter as "him"? I'm not sure what that is about.

Gravatar Michael, no, but I've heard a few other journalists making similar comments.

It's offensive to trans people, but I don't think they stop to think about that. People are quick to condemn her, as they should be, but what a pity it has to be a) about her appearance (that she is so thin, that she's "masculine", that she always wears a black minidress, etc.) or b) that she's a transgendered woman.

Why not attack what she says and does, which is what they'd be far more likely to do if she actually were a man. The looksism and homobigotry always have to override everything.

Gravatar One of the memes that was used on Coulter for a time was the transgendered inference, ostensibly to counter the right-wing propaganda spin that she was a beautiful, intelligent woman and thus holding an opinion worthy of semi-serious consideration to a paternalistic society ...Picking up on nuances like hand size, the prominent adam's apple, lifestyle proclivities, etc.

Of course, the 'beautiful' aspect of such a description is and will be highly subjective.
The 'intelligent' part could be rapidly disproved merely by opening any of her collections of turgid prose and reading a page or two.

Low-ball politics, is all. The same type of false and deliberately hurtful public inferences, mirrored by those in the 'opposite camp' with the same level of self-control as she.

Gravatar “another grubby man-hating liberal chick who should consider shaving her legs and looking in the mirror once in a while”

Err, what? Having a large body of water safely betwixt myself and Mr. Litbrit, can I just say that you're way, way, wayyy on the excellent side of hot, and very much the kind of woman that men ought to be falling over themselves to be with? That includes not just the physical appearance, but your obvious intelligence, erudition, sense of humour and good soul?

I agree with an earlier commenter that this does smack of playground name-calling, both by the poor creature that is Anne Coulter and by some of her detractors. She's obviously deranged and would be sectioned over here (I hope), but she must be attacked for what she says and does, rather than her inability to fill out a dress as well as LitBrit. (gawd, I'm going to get such a slap if I ever make it to Florida...).

I’m a straight guy who (obviously) loathes laundry, has an interest in interior design, loves cooking and gardening and happily follows Strictly Come Dancing with his girlfriend. None of these make me anything other than the complex human that most people are. If I was gay, so what? Obviously, my girlfriend might need to be told... :-D

What people mustn’t do with Anne Coulter is perceive of her as a monster. To do that sets her apart, and in a way, excuses what she does. She's a damaged human, in the same way that Hitler or Idi Amin were. The more dangerous thing about them all is the number of followers they seem able to amass.

Poor education, including mumbo-jumbo religious tosh and creationism are helping to provide rich and fertile ground for these people to farm.

Right, time to shut up as I’m ranting again.

It’s lovely and sunny here in Blighty - warm wishes to you and yours! Time to nip out and do a spot of horticulture. Now, where are my sequinned gardening slingbacks...
