Gravatar As long as he is fully willing, and with complete understanding, to include Newty in his acknowledgment of the apology owed to Clinton (vile scumbag that Bill Clinton on a personal level is, even though he is also a brilliant politician and on the whole was a good thing for the country), I completely agree with Baby Brother!

Those who shouted the loudest had the most to hide.

As I mentioned earlier today over at Harp & Sword, thinking fundies (rare breed though they are) are in part informed by this saying:
The preacher preaches loudest against his own sins.

That is so true!!

Gravatar clinton deserved a number of his lumps. he tarnished what could have been a shining legacy in sordid little affairs that detracted mightily from the business at hand. the republicans were certainly psychotic in their hatred, much like the catonian hatred of caesar. even when caesar was right and did something good for rome, cato opposed it because it came from caesar. gingrich, and those beetle browed bastards were much the same. i howled with laughter when it was gingrich's affair that cost him his seat and speakership. i despise those hypocritical thieves. i am tired mightily of their trumpeting their fiscal responsibility when they spend far more loosely than drunken sailors on shoreleave in panaang. i've been drunk there and when the money was gone i went back to the ship. i didn't borrow a wheelbarrow full of chinese counterfit yaun.

Gravatar So as a liberal you think two wrongs make a right!!!!!! Correct - P.S I guess as a woman you approve of a man sexually assaulting multiple women. Can you say Juanita Broderick, Kathleen Willey, Paula Jones, Monica just to name a couple.

Gravatar Sound reasoning, that brother of yours.

But a clearer perspective holds both blessing and curse.

Next, let us work on the correlation between hiring (via election) those who espouse the dismantling of the American government (with its attendant social structures) to the task of overseeing function and direction of that same government...And the eventual collapse of American society, intertwined inexorably with its government, as they who must be Right step back from the ruins with pockets of smoldering loot into the embrace of their corporate concubines and declaim, "See? We told you government doesn't work!"

After all, failure is a proof of concept, n'est pas?

;>)

Gravatar 'So as a liberal you think two wrongs make a right'

Frankly, as a fiscal conservative, it is my opinion that on social issues the Right is often twice as wrong...wrongheaded and prone to wrongdoing.
Thus, 2x wrong does indeed equal Right.

On this, my liberal friends and I can warmly agree.

;>)

Gravatar As another fiscal conservative (Frank, how we miss you, sir), I can't say it better than Darkblack did.

As a woman, and a married one at that, I maintain that President Clinton's sexual affairs with consenting adults--and despite the many millions of taxpayers' dollars that the Right, once again, squandered trying to prove otherwise, they were consenting adults, not victims of sexual assault--were matters for his wife and him to work out.

I'm not an across-the-board fan of the gentleman; as Minstrel points out, he really damaged his legacy thanks to that unrestrained machismo and gargantuan sense of sexual entitlement. I don't remember him ever publicly railing against adulterers and skirt-chasers, though; certainly he didn't preach and pontificate and mold public policy, legislation, and general political climate around an irrational hatred of them, all the while actually being one. Clinton was (and is) nothing if not sharply intelligent: he could recognize that while others might have specks in their eyes, he had a bloody telephone pole in his own.

Gravatar he could recognize that while others might have specks in their eyes, he had a bloody telephone pole in his own.

and that, my dear, is the crux of the whole thing and the main difference. one of the main reasons for my mad john adams love is that he was a very flawed man. he had overwhelming pride, a quick temper, a sternly judgemental streak, and many other flaws. we know of these flaws because adams himself documented them. he was quite open and honest about his limitations and shortcomings. his letters to his wife chronicle many instances of him admitting to have bungled one approach or another during the continental congress. he would write long letters to jefferson while he was ambassador to france that told of his being unable to negotiate the murky waters of the versailles court. by recognising and being open about those flaws adams was moe able to overcome or work around them.

that was the most certain measure of his greatness that i find.

i really don't have any high moral ground to stand upon when it comes to sexual highjinx. i spent way too many years on the road for that to hold any water at all. i can't condemn others for their drug, alcohol or other indiscretions because i did so much more than inhaling.

the next democratic warroom for the election should have a carvillesque sign that says

it's the hypocrisy stupid

Gravatar welcome to bizzaro world.

Gravatar It comes sooner for some than others. Out here in California, most of my Republican friends, the ones who are fiscally conservative and socially liberal - you know, Rockefeller Republicans - gave up on the GOP years ago.

First they realized that the GOP is NOT fiscally conservative, and then that they couldn't abide the bible-thumpers.

The fact that so many are blazing hypocrites only solidified their change.

But a Tae Kwon Do black belt? I used to have a theory that most people who train in the martial arts would understand why Iraq is such a disaster, and why Bush's leadership is so lacking. But your brother may have gotten there already as well.

Gravatar I maintain that President Clinton's sexual affairs with consenting adults--and despite the many millions of taxpayers' dollars that the Right, once again, squandered trying to prove otherwise, they were consenting adults, not victims of sexual assault--were matters for his wife and him to work out.

This comment is filled with lies, consenting adults, Monica maybe Juanita Broderick and the others no.

Gravatar roboserve, i maintain, to this day, a sincere belief that road cookies do not constitute a marital infidelity. they're just cookies, dig? of course, each one of my ex-wives, their attorneys, and ever single judge who ever handled my divorces disagreed. nevertheless, i hold firm to my belief. i maintain.

barfbag.

Gravatar My twin and I agree on mostly everything. But, our few differences are striking. He's straight. I'm gay. But, he's the one who reacts almost violently to news stories like the one involving Craig. He's upset that people are even debating this as a gay issue when it is really a public indecency issue.

The fact is, most men who engage in sex in public restrooms and parks with other men identify themselves as straight. Most are married, older guys.

I don't know any gay men who engage in this kind of behavior. Most of us find anonymous toilet sex just as creepy and repulsive as most other people.

As for Clinton, I believe he should have simply refused to discuss his personal sex life. The line has to be drawn somewhere. I don't want a special prosecutor asking my president how many times a day he masturbates! I don't want to know if Laura and Dubya have anal sex!

Clinton should have 1) refused to answer all questions about Monica Lewinski; and, 2) arrested Ken Star for endangering national security by interferring with the duties of the Commander in Chief. Star should have stayed in federal prison until Clinton's last day in office. That would have put an end to that kind of dirty politics forever.

Gravatar Clinton should be in jail for failing to stop 9/11 he was to busy do cigar tricks on Monica than killing Osama. The CIA gave him ten chances to do something he failed. Stop all the liberal B.S about it was all about sex.

Gravatar robo, thanks for the early morning laugh--it goes well with strong coffee and is equally appreciated after a rough week.

Gravatar Now we know what Karl Rove will be doing with his time off...
