That was such a cute picture of Sister Anne E. Good luck with the garden the rest of the summer. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get to the veggies before your four-footed friends do.

I thought of you when I came home this evening to see our resident mischief-maker (squirrel) eating what I first thought was a leaf from our morning glories. Closer inspection (this critter has very little fear of humans and would far rather hold his spot on the fence than to move) proved that he was eating a beet leaf. He ran off as I approached the door of the house. Alas, when I came back outside a few minutes later, he had yet another stem in his paws and was crunching away.
I suppose we should be happy that he is an adventurous eater... and that he seems to have stopped digging up every herb and flower we pot.
So far the other veggies are safe, but if he is going to eat beets, who knows what's next!
