Here we go again, anti-transit Ken Avidor promoting Tinklenberg the highway man.

Here's a quote from Tinklenberg from 2001:

"From the 1960's through the 1990's, the U.S. built the 47,000-mile Interstate Highway System, and more than 200,000 miles of additional arterials. This network provides the mobility that has made the modern American economy possible. Our productivity and competitiveness depend on it."

This is who anti-transit Ken Avidor supports, a guy who has long promoted aggressive highway expansion! What's next Ken? Roadkillbill in a Hummer?

So was the whole anti-car thing just a front, Ken? Once your highway man Tinklenberg is in office will you reveal your true pro-car agenda?

Mike, relax... I didn't say I support Elwyn Tinklenberg in this post (not that it would matter to anyone in the 6th CD if I did). There are other DFL candidates and I'm not going to say who I support until we hear from all of them.

Also, I didn't mention your favorite fantasy mode of transportation and it's not likely I will mention it much in the future... since it's become clear from the preview at Heathrow that it is not the "Future of Transportation".

Now, go run along...

Oh, OK, you didn't say you "support" Tinklenberg. You just supported his position on transportation!

You posted a video of "the highway man" discussing transportation policy, and are now denying you support his transportation policies, which included aggressive highway expansion during his tenure as head of MN DOT!

Not to mention, you recently promoted Tink on dailykos.

How can you call the late Sheffer Lang "anti-transit" even though he supported transit his whole life; then without a hint of irony, post a transportation position video from a man who was actually responsible for aggressive highway expansion? Do you really believe people don't see through your hypocrisy?

Ken Avidor, you are an anti-transit activist and supporter of proven road warrior El Tinklenberg.

"I think Tinklenberg is an Excellent Candidate" - Anti-transit activist Ken Avidor expressing his support for the highway man.

"I am a thirty-something software engineer from Western New York State. I am married with three children."

The software business slow these days, A.T.E?

"The software business slow these days, A.T.E?"

Apparently, not nearly as slow as the cartoon business. Especially the "anti-car-rodent-cartoon-which-masks-the-artist's- true-anti-transit-agenda" business.

Whatever...

Bachmann recently voted NO to the Credit Cardholders Bill of Rights Act (the one to protect us from banks charging usurious fees).

Recall that her largest campaign contributor is TCF bank.

Curiously, TCF is now hiring for the following position:

Fee Income Analyst
TCF Requisition #: 84905005
Employment Status: Full Time
Location:
Minneapolis, Minnesota 55402-0000

Job Description:

This position will function as a primary source of analyzing TCF fee income history, forecasting and modeling, and working closely with the company CEO and CFO by making recommendations regarding how to revise the current system or create a new one in order to maximze fee income revenue of TCF.

Coincidence?

We need to quit diverting tax money meant for roads to the black hole of boondoggles like Light Rail which:

1) Few working people use
2) Shuffles gang bangers around for free
3) Is an enormous waste of money which could never fund itself.

I'm sick of traffic and wasting fuel because liberals won't use money to improve roads (which it was meant for).

LIKE CONGESTION?: VOTE SOCIALIST DEMOCRAT!

Anna,

The liberal credit card "Bill of Rights" will only jack up the rates of responsible cardholders to allow the irresponsible to keep making the same stupid mistakes.

Welcome to Socialism!

And 20 bucks says that if they wanted to expand the freeway and wanted to use land that Dare2 owns he'd be screaming NIMBY faster then Michelle Bachmman goes off on insane rants.

Tell me, Dare, how many gang crimes have been committed because of light rail?

And as for you, ATC, please tell me you're not a supporter of that whacked out "Personal Transport Pod" or whatever the bloody hell it's called. Because that would be way too laughable.

Which transit system are you talking about? You've clearly never ridden the DC Metro system...heavily used, by school students, Army Officers, city workers, tourists, suburbanites (the biggest argument in the area is where the next phase of expansion is going to go...and it is not NIMBY! The happiest news I could get would be light rail to Southern MD, especially the Waldorf-LaPlata area. My house would double in value overnight!), and everyone else who wants to go into DC.

Well designed transit is competitive with highways, once we eliminate the subsidies for roads....except then you'd have $6/gallon gas...like they have in Europe.

You're wasting fuel because a whole lot of frustrated commuters can't get to work in a timely manner. Traffic studies show: it takes 1.5 years to expand a suburban road 10 miles, costs in the many millions of dollars (3 or 4 million/mile last I heard), lengthens average commute times during construction by more than an hour each way...and will take more than 10 years of driving on the new road to recoup the hours spend on those delays.

Enjoy the exhaust fumes Dare.

Pr Chris

Dare,

The Credit Card Bill of Rights won't jack up the rates of responsible credit card holders, because those people (the rich) have a choice about using cards that do that . . . they can cut them up and find a bank that treats them (and their money) better.

I'm a wealthy credit card holder and my bank isn't jacking up my rates because of these consumer protections. In fact they just called to offer me a BETTER deal on my credit card, to KEEP me as a customer.

Valued customers (those who pay their bills) will always get the preferred rates, no fee cards, etc.

I know because I'm one of them. Competition will keep the rates low for us rich people -- if I don't like the rate on my credit card I'll just go to whoever offers a better deal . . . they'll take me in a a nanosecond.

Stop the lies and deceptions. Screwing the middle class and poor is just wrong, and I'm glad that Obama is putting a stop to it. Like Jesus, he threw the moneychangers out of the temple. Too bad Bachmann, the faux Christian, couldn't vote to do the same.

I agree about the DC metro. What a great system! We visit DC often, and now we ALWAYS stay at a hotel near the line because it is the best way to see the city without the hassles of renting a car (expensive) and parking (awful, last time we did that it was a constant nightmare to find parking near the museums, etc.)

Excellent and efficient public transit is a great stimulus to a local economy.

Oh and Dare, where does most of the money for roads/transit come from? I'll give you the answer.

Gas tax and license tab fees. So the next time you whine about congestion do bother to remember how cheerfully the Republicans cut license tab fees not so many years ago and how cheerfully they block raising the gas tax.

So I guess that would make Republicans socialists in your view, yes?

"So the next time you whine about congestion do bother to remember how cheerfully the Republicans cut license tab fees not so many years ago and how cheerfully they block raising the gas tax."

Jim,
The problem isn't with lowering taxes to a reasonable amount, the problem is diverting that tax money to somewhere it wasn't intended. The democrat socialist party does that all the time and people are getting sick of it..

Dare: The "diversion" of funds is not what is causing the problems. The lack of funds is caused by the refusal to raise the per gallong taxes for decades, while the average mileage on vehicles grows, therefore fewer dollars are collected per thousand miles of road driven. Meanwhile the cost of building roads, especially LAND Acquition costs has risen tremendously.

Now maybe like back in the 1970s the average mileage was MAYBE 14 mpg for cars...you'd like to go back to that? At $4.00/gal gas, that would cost you. LOTS

Pr chris

"Dare: The "diversion" of funds is not what is causing the problems."

Wrong Kris.

Dare, again:

Prove it!

Pr Chris

Dare, in the first place my name is James. Only close friends are allowed to call me Jim and you are certainly not that.

Secondly, I'd suggest you get off this "Democrat socialist" bit you're on else every time I mention you or the Republicans I'm going to call you fascists. The Democrats are not Socialists and you have no bloody idea what real socialism is. Sorry, in the real world..you know..the world you don't live in..you don't get to make something "socialist" just by calling it that.

And the problem with your claim that it's the "diversions" that are causing the problem is the little fact that 20+ years ago there was heavy congestion on the freeways..and that was before LRT and all the rest. You simply can't build enough roads to keep up with it. There needs to be a mix, child. So sorry..your precious Republicans share some of the blame for foolishly cutting the fees and the taxes when they shouldn't have.

And the faster you come to the adult conclusion that there is enough blame and responsibility for both parties on the subject the sooner you will start making statements that actually smack of intelligence.

Jim says:

"The Democrats are not Socialists "

Today's democrat party most certainly is, and they would be more accurately named the democrat socialist party. Why do you think there is no active socialist party in the U.S. any longer Jim? It's because they have figured out that it's much more effective to infiltrate and take over the democrat party, which they are succesfully doing. They might not like to be publically called socialists, but they definately are.

Dare:

Define Socialism? At least how you are using it. I'll donate $10. to the DNC if you can provide any definition that is any where close to being accurate....

You've got till midnight ET Monday...

Pr Chris

Sorry, Dare,

I meant to say I'd donate to the Republican National Committee if you can....

Pr Chris

Again, dare, the name is James. Don't presume that you have the right to call me by the name Jim, you don't. Quit being a child on that score.

And thank you for proving you have no idea what socialism actually is. Nothing the Democrats have done even remotely comes close to actual socialism. So I hereby dub you and the Republicans the Fascist Republican Party.

Actually, Dare, I'll also donate $10 to the RNC if you can explain what it is exactly the Democrats have been doing that is Socialist.

Oh..and by the way, I'll give you a little help. The bank and auto bailouts were started by Bush.

Quit whining Jimbo. You lib's call me names like R2D2 all the time, but I take it like a man.

There is no question that the democrat party has been taken over by socialists. For example, the 3rd most left leaning U.S. Senator at least has the balls to admit that he's a Socialist, Bernie Sanders (D-VT). Obama is rated the most liberal with Biden #2. Doesn't that tell you something Jim?

I've never called you anything but Dare and if you had a problem with that I'd change it. It's this little thing called respect that you apparently know nothing about. So, Dare, why don't you be human enough and respectful enough to call me by my formal name and not a nickname that you have no right to call me. Like I said, only friends can call me Jim and noone calls me Jimbo. And you are most certainly not a friend.

Secondly, you have proven nothing aobut the Democrats being socialists. Other than the adage "If 50 million people believe a foolish thing it is still a foolish thing." Someone is not a socialist by opinion poll. So thank you for admitting and acknowledging that the Democrats are not Socialists.

And I'm sure you have proof that th 3rd most left leaning U.S. Senator has admitted he's a socialist right? And exactly how is it determined who is the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd most left leaning politicians? Because two years ago you guys were saying it was Mrs. Clinton. And then before that it was Kerry..and before that it was Gore..and before that it was Bill Clinton. It seems to change to that it's whoever you Republicans hate most. Which is not in any actuality an indicator of who is the most liberal politician or not.

So all it tells me is that you can't answer the question.

Oh and you mean how it's no question that the Republicans have been taken over by fascists?

Sorry, this "lets call the Democrats "socialists" is only an indication of how much a failure the Republicans have become. They have nothing of their own to stand on, they only exist to attack the other party. If that continues, Dare, the Republican party will die out.

You know what I'm tired of the obsfucation on your part.

So lets amend the deal a bit. If you continue refusing to actually answer the question that I asked you..meaning what exactly the Democrats have done that is Socialist I will donate money to the DNC. Same goes if you continue to refuse to answer PR Chris's question of what is the actual definition of Socialist.

If you come up with any more opinion/anecdotes it will be seen as an admission on your part that you can't answer the question. Only actualy provable evidence will be allowed. Meaning you will have to provide the evidence and also provide the proof that backs that evidence.

Time for you to put up or shut up, Dare.

Hypothetically, Dare, what do you do with the following?

Now the whole group of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one claimed private ownership of any possessions, but everything they owned was held in common. With great power [they]...gave their tesimony...and great grace was upon them all. There was not a needy person among them, for as many as owned lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold. They laid it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to each as any had need....

Give up? Fourth chapter of the Book of Acts...and then read up, the next few verses tell the sad story of Ananias and Sapphira.

Dare do bother to remember that the Republicans had enough people in Congress when the bailouts were being formed last year to block such bailouts if they actually had wanted to. And Bush could have vetoed them. But oh wait..he didn't. Because the bailouts were his ideas. Especially TARP.

Sorry, you're not revising history to serve you here.

Jim,

Even though there are too many liberal RINO Republicans making bad decisions, the Porkulus bill split on party lines. The republican's knew what a horrible idea it was, and we are now finding out what a mistake it was by watching the economy go further down the toilet.

And Jim,
I noticed that you lied on another blog stating that Hitler was a Christian. He was actually anti-Christian, much like many contributors to this blog.

No, Hitler was Christian, Dare. A very poor one yes but a Christian none the less. He used Christianity to justify what he did and the vast majority of Germans in WW2 were Christians. Hitler's anti-semitism would not have existed without Christianity blaming the Jews for the death of Jesus. That is historical fact, Dare, and only a fake Christian would deny it.

And considering what a base liar you are the only anti-Christian I see on this blog is you.

And again, Dare, if the Republicans had objected to the bill they had enough people to block it at the time. TARP was the idea of the Bush administration. Paulson's idea to be specific, dare.

Jim,

It’s a liberal/socialist lie to say that Adolph Hitler, the leader of Germany’s National Socialist Party, was a Christian. He had more in common with liberals than with conservatives or Christians. Here are just a few of his quotes:

“National Socialism and religion cannot exist together…. The heaviest blow that ever struck humanity was the coming of Christianity. Bolshevism is Christianity’s illegitimate child. Both are inventions of the Jew. The deliberate lie in the matter of religion was introduced into the world by Christianity…. Let it not be said that Christianity brought man the life of the soul, for that evolution was in the natural order of things. (p 6 & 7)”

“Christianity is a rebellion against natural law, a protest against nature. Taken to its logical extreme, Christianity would mean the systematic cultivation of the human failure. (p 43)”

“The best thing is to let Christianity die a natural death…. When understanding of the universe has become widespread… Christian doctrine will be convicted of absurdity…. Christianity has reached the peak of absurdity…. And that’s why someday its structure will collapse…. …the only way to get rid of Christianity is to allow it to die little by little…. Christianity the liar…. We’ll see to it that the Churches cannot spread abroad teachings in conflict with the interests of the State. (p 49-52)”

-Adolph Hitler

"My feelings as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them and who, God's truth! was greatest not as a sufferer but as a fighter. In boundless love as a Christian and as a man I read through the passage which tells us how the Lord at last rose in His might and seized the scourge to drive out of the Temple the brood of vipers and adders. How terrific was His fight for the world against the Jewish poison. To-day, after two thousand years, with deepest emotion I recognize more profoundly than ever before the fact that it was for this that He had to shed His blood upon the Cross. As a Christian I have no duty to allow myself to be cheated, but I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice... And if there is anything which could demonstrate that we are acting rightly it is the distress that daily grows. For as a Christian I have also a duty to my own people.

-Adolf Hitler, in a speech on 12 April 1922

Curious, Dare, that you don't source the quotes you used. Should I read into that the obvious truth? That you can't?

And sorry, Hitler was a fascist. Fascists are on the right side of the political spectrum. They're just beyond the Republicans on it.

And again, Dare, where did Hitler's anti-semitism come from if not Christianity blaming, attacking, discriminating and killing the Jews for the death of Jesus for near 2000 years?

Nazism: A form of fascism (i.e. right wing) that extols nationalism, vitriolic racism against some minority that is perceieved as having all the power, and virulent anti-communism. They also opposed economic, social and political liberalism.

The only way you can claim, Dare, that the Nazi's were left wing because of the word "Socialism" in their title is if you also admit that North Korea is a democratic state because it has the word "Democratic" in their title.

You and the Nazi's, child, are on the same side of the political spectrum.

And as for your quixotic claims that Obama is a socialist, less then 1% of the U.S. economy is owned by the government. Over 1 trillion dollars, the 99+% majority is not.

Your claims that Obama is a Socialist and turning this country into a Socialist country is as stupidly inane as your claims that Hitler was left wing.

Considering the way you and most of the right wing keep on trying to blame every single problem in the US on some minority or another you really should be taking a long look in the mirror on exactly how much separation there is between you and the fascists. Because there isn't as much as you think there is.
