Did I read you correctly? Does "butcher" mean something different in the UK, or are you eating meat now?
oh yes, the US turned me back into a carnivore... well actually, lactose intolerance turned me back into a meat eater... it's amazing how few veggie dishes do not contain any cow's milk dairy... 
Those sound like reasonable resolutions - you've got to allow yourself some leeway if you're doing this long term.
The other thing that's really made a difference for me has been to watch my online spending. Somehow throwing those credit card numbers into the ether doesn't feel like spending money.
