I know your post was in 2006, but I feel I have to comment.
I thought I just had tics, but I think I'm realizing more & more that I have Tourette's. Like your dad, my dad was exposed to Agent Orange, and there is definitely a known connection. My brother also has tics, but not as bad as mine. And mine come & go, depending on the amount of stress in my life.
That was an excellent comment on the girl with Tourette's.
