Well, he might have thought it was a Quaker meetinghouse, I guess, which is also pretty simple. Is a church defined by its looks or by what it tries to do in the world?

For as superficial as the rest of the round robin was, I think the former is a better measure. Especially since the usual criterion for judging a church is neither activities nor building, but doctrines. I've never been inside a Unitarian church, so I can't speak to how closely it resembles a meetinghouse. Someday maybe I'll get to hear you preach, and I'll be able to compare.

(As for "what it tries to do in the world," us Papists still have y'all beat for charities.)
