Gravatar why bother drawing a fletch at all?

Gravatar You know, it may just be the angle of the drawing, but it's possible that she is about to string her chin. It almost looks like her chin is sticking down far enough to be in danger... Not to mention, as much as her elbow is flexed, I see no way for her to generate the raw strength to pull a bow with any tension at all back that far.

Gravatar Also what I find funny -- in the issue where Kate picks up her bow, one of the boys comments, "Where did you learn to shoot?" and she snaps back, "Interlochen National Music Camp."

Now, this might not really apply, since I only attended the Academy, but as far as I can remember, Interlochen isn't called the National Music Camp any longer, and has been called Interlochen Arts Camp ever since it added other arts disciplines like dance and visual art, way back in the fifties.

Also, I'm pretty sure archery isn't an arts area and isn't taught at Interlochen, or even offered as an evening activity. Sorry, Kate!

Gravatar Nice catch. I wouldn't have known that.

It does bring up another point though; nobody gets that good in just a few sessions of summer camp. I've known people who got good enough to win state championships in their division in under a year, but that involved shooting about 180 arrows a day (six FITA rounds), every day, and following an intensive workout regimen to build strength and stamina.

Neither Kate nor the new Speedy have been shown to practice much. Apparently we are meant to accept the notion that their ability is of mutant origin. It would be nice if somebody said so.
