"DC One Million" was especially irritating about this sort of thing. A 5 century difference... yeah, it's a stretch, but seems at least *plausible*. You can wrap your head around it. Queen Elizabeth knows who her ancestors from circa 1500 were, for instance. But 85,000 years?

IIRC, they even had a descendant of Jimmy Olsen as the mayor of Metropolis or somesuch - still with the surname of Olsen and red hair and freckles!
