F**king hell. Scumbags

Yeah, the one in which the car is toppled is the scene I witnessed today. Such scumbags, indeed Saint.

This really wasnt the RA but rather the Dublin Skummers, I hope the peelers really give them a good kicking, I was looking forward to a good parade down O'Connell St today, brought the childer out special for it like.

PS The Judiciary wont punish these pricks hard enough so to peelers gloves off boys, the population is behind you.
PPS Where is the KGB when you want them to take off those Lithuanians

Astonishing. Sad. Scary.

The problem in Ireland is not just the tribal issue. If it went away tomorrow morning, the people we see in these images will be a problem for anyone who wants to live in a democratic society.

There are very clear images of some of these bastards. They had better be treated with an Iron Hand. The very worst enemies of the Irish state may be those with the tricolor wrapped around their shoulders, those who took great glee in vandalizing the capital city.

The videos refresh the phrase "mindless violence."

The second video shows a guy "looting for Ireland." I guess stealing laptop from a car and then vandalizing the car for good measure is a valid political strategy of sorts...

I didnt hear any IRA chants on those videos. These are Dublin Skangers not Republicans, it would have been worse if it was republicans!

UI

These pictures are all the proof anyone needs that this was a riot devoid of political motivation.
It strikes me as something similar to the riots in English cities some years ago.
These people may well feel alienated from society, for a variety of reasons, taking every opportunity to exact their revenge.
I may have felt sympathy for their marginalisation, as I do for the working class youths of Manchester and Los Angeles, but they hijacked an event which was contentious and then vented their spleen as if they were politically motivated.
They have managed to create an opportunity for those who wish to attack Republicans, and their aspirations, on foot of these actions.
Their behaviour was criminal, indiscriminate (one of the cars was Northern, the other Southern) and unacceptable.
Scumbags.

"one of the cars was Northern, the other Southern)"

Ironic. Such people are the enemeies of all on this island.

Hunt them down and put them away.

I see the loonies have already urged a bombing in Dublin as retaliation!!!

"I see the loonies have already urged a bombing in Dublin as retaliation!!!"

Hadn't heard that, but it is par for the course.
Thankfully it will be hard enough for them to do it, if the Brits aren't on for it.

"Hunt them down and put them away."

They videoed themselves doing it and then released it to the world.
The Keystone cops should be able to nail them, for Christ's sake!

Sadly typical. That's one way to bring forward the cause of a UI.

The only thing these scumbags have succeeded in uniting is the whole of the political spectrum in their condemnation of such wanton vandalism and opportunism.

What an advert for Dublin!

As an American landed in Belfast I tend to (somewhat cynically) expect riots at some point or another throughout the year. What, exactly, are these people rioting about? Was there some political decision made recently that they disagreed with? Or is it a more Belfast-y type thing, where you riot because you just sort of feel like it?

Wayne

"Or is it a more Belfast-y type thing, where you riot because you just sort of feel like it?"

How come you know so much about Belfast?

I had a few relatives in town yesterday who were nearly bricked by the brave patriots smashing the windows of the PD offices. Scumbags.

Firstly, what happened was a disgrace and an embarrassment. No excuses.

Secondly, I'm a bit concerned about a couple of the comment-threads here.

(a) That a riot by a tiny minority of people who have no electoral representation was a sign that all of nationalist Ireland hates unionists and that this is what a united Ireland would be like. What opportunistic nonsense!

(b) That it was dastardly northern nationalists behind it all. Yes indeed, Ruth Dudley Edwards would be proud. Ruairi O'Braidigh isn't from the north and I'd bet my bottom dollar that most of the "patriotic" hordes involved were from our great capital. (The scrawny little bastard who shouted "republicanism, yeah!" at me later that evening definitely wasn't from the north (nor, for that matter is he a true republican).

The shame is for the whole country - no Sindo-style scapegoats please.

Gopaddy

"I didnt hear any IRA chants on those videos. These are Dublin Skangers not Republicans, it would have been worse if it was republicans!"

In the first video you can clearly hear chants of 'The I, The I, The IRA!'

The vast bulk involved seem to be the typical Dublin scangers but it would seem to me that it was cleverly orchestrated from the start by more craftier minds since people had brought pipe bombs to the event.

Shame on the scangers for going along with it.

Reg

"The shame is for the whole country - no Sindo-style scapegoats please."

I agree.
There is a danger of Northerners being stereotyped here.
We would be against that sort of thing with any other group.
The behaviour was unacceptable.
It was carried out by thugs, from various parts of Ireland. I don't know if anyone from the North has been charged yet, but the blaming has already started.

Jo,
"Such people are the enemeies of all on this island."

Absolutley. I haven't met one person here in Dublin who isn't furious about what happened.

"Disgusting and unacceptable behaviour."

That's exactly what one of my teachers said when I farted in her class many moons ago.

She was right then and you are right now UI!
