Don't give up. Of course, people are supporting the lisbon treaty now in the crisis, but I'm sure the No campaign can still win - they just have to make people realize the crisis has nothing to do with a Yes or a No to lisbon.
I don't know if you're interested in economics, but the crisis was caused by the EMU. There was too much money around, printing presses were going wild in a boom, which inevitably leads to a very big bust. Now, who made the printing presses go wild? France, because it was good for them at the time. Who would get more power if the Lisbon treaty is ratified? France. The idiots who started it would get more powerful - that's not a good solution if you ask me.
Okey, I know a lot of this came from the US, but still there would probably not have been a housing bubble (just a normal price increase as immigration went up). Printing presses is what cause bubbles.

Hi UI. Tell me about it
The biggest issue affecting the whole of Ireland this year is the spectre of another Lisbon election and, more importantly, the condescendng hype and policy of misinformation which we can expect the main parties to drive.
The election, when it comes, will not be about whether we want to live in peace and harmony with our continental neighbours, it's about one issue only: moving key pillars of national sovereignty from Dublin to the unaccountable grey suits of Brussels. For ever.
Is that what countless Irish and British patriots died for?

I understand your concerns on Lisbon. A Sunday Business Post mole on politics.ie is claiming his newspaper is set to suppress regional-figures from tomorrow’s Red C poll on the euro-election, which place Declan Ganley on 16% in Northwest. Apparently, the newspaper will acknowledge the swing, but not it’s scale. Pressure needs to be brought to bear on the newspaper, in the interests of transparency and with due consideration of the gravity of the issues at stake (including the foremost question of the ratification of the Lisbon Treaty), to follow its standard practice with the previous euro-election polls this year by releasing the regional-breakdown. A failure to do so, especially in the context of a critique of Ganley’s stance on neutrality in tomorrow’s newspaper, can only call into question the impartiality of the publication.

There's a lot of discontent out there.
Even if only a few of us vent our feelings on a blog, it's better than roaring at the TV.
It's not just the economy, or Lisbon, or CICA. It's the rotten state of our country which permits injustice and incompetence on a grand scale. Dig out the sceal, put it up for all to see. Even if only one of the shitheads responsible for this mess is discomfited by something you write, or we comment on, its worth it.
Get back on the keyboard, UI, there's work to be done.

Let's hope and pray that the Irish people turn out in their droves in October and vote No to the Lisbon Treaty/European Constitution.
Hope you're well, UI.
