The key to the govt mishandling is in the fact that it was known on Monday and the news not made public until Saturday. I wonder how many sausages Brian Cowen and Brendan Smith ate in that time.

Does anyone have a list of the 47 farms?

What about the heroic quantities of ham I've put in sandwiches since September? Am I at risk? Back to corned beef.

Apparently up to 25 countries could have contaminated Irish pork. It was the Italian government that first noticed something was wrong so the incompetent oafs here didn't even figure it out first.

Farms in NI are now at risk too. They are recalling the products in the UK.

This is going to devastate the country and I could see countries like Britain looking to places like Holland for meat in future instead of Ireland.

On the health risks they are saying that prolonged exposure amounts to years which means people shouldn't worry. That's somewhat reassuring but I'm still concerned.

UI

I eat sausages and rashers like it's going out of style!

I actually heard about this on the radio as I tucked into a massive fry on Sat morning. I didn't let the news spoil my breakie but I'll lay off the pig until all this is sorted out.

PS Our government are a joke.

What type of inspections are supposedly done by or on behalf of the government?

Its nearly impossible to think of this not being the result of someone's intentional act. Is there the possibility of prosecuting those who introduced PCB into the food chain?
