I was spanked as a child, but only once that I remember. The threat of it was always there though. I think if we had children, we would spank them, if necessary. Some kids don't need it though, so it really depends.

I'm sure you all know where Ryan and I stand...if not we do believe in spanking! I agree with Terri and think that all kids are different and not all need to be spanked. My brother and I are a perfect example of that. My brother would test all athority therefor leaving no room but to spank, where if I were to just get the look I would run to my room and stay there until I changed my attitude. I've been reading a great book on discipline, and for those of you interested it is The Strong Willed Child by Dr. James Dobson. Even if you don't have a strong willed child it will still give you great insight!

In all serousness though, I was spanked, I spank my kids, I think it serves its purpose if done correctly. I think the problem is that people aren't perfect, but politicians (not perfect either) expect perfection in areas like this and don't allow room for tolerance. As a result they pass bills eliminating what should be good, but sometimes isn't. Kind of like a ban on plastic bags in California, or gun control, or, or, or... you get the idea.
My biggest beef about this ban is that it chips away a little at our freedom and while I'm not overly concerned about it, I'm concerned about what they will ban next. Perhaps someday I won't be able to hug my sons goodbye in the morning because it might be construed as sexual abuse because I've touched them with affection. Don't roll your eyes. It's the truth.
