It could be better with faster gameplay, items (like healing kit, better weapons, etc.) and special moves.
You should add more things to upgrade (like hp and dodge) for example maximum length of slashing, its power, the power of the bow, speed movement, etc.

Great game, I had fun just slashing away. It feels like it would be a DS title. All I would ask for would be more advance techniques but I see you will be putting that in the 2nd. I can hardly wait. ^^

Excellent Flash. Even on a very low connection speed, the game loads relatively quickly. The controls are reminiscent of Okami, which I haven't played, but it's nice. I noticed the Samurai Jack nature of the art,... That's ok too, since there's only so much you can expect when working with Flash on a slashing crawler.
The game didn't take me ten minutes, it took me an hour. But that's because I like taking my time. The strategy mode is nice, but too easy. I had all the nodes occupied with 10's before I killed the boss... which was easier than the Tower Arrows.
I suggest adding more elements of gameplay, such as, if you make a circle motion with the sword you deflect all nearby enemies or projectiles. If you do a straight vertical line, samurai drops from the sky.
Perhaps another character? Maybe an assassin, or a divine-child and a war-dog. Or maybe a female samurai. The basics are excellent. Hope to see more.
i enjoyed it very much, god ideas, good controls, nice balance between pass time and intuitive playing and challenge. i'm looking forward to part II ;-D

This game............. made me wanna buy a wii.. loved it
Everything was good EXCEPT the boss fight, which mad 100% no sense. The hits that landed and the hits that where dodged BOTH looked exactly the same. Even after i won, i didnt feel like i knew how I won. The hits that where dodged by the boss looked like they connected perfictly, and didnt look any different than the ones that hit. The boss fight was totally un-intuitive. It sais to wait till he cant dodge, but i had no problem drawing my slash over his body while he was on the ground. I would slash through him and come out of my slash, and he would still be on the ground, and wouldnt dodge till after the slash was finished.
Great game, but the boss fight simply doesnt work at all.

Great game, I've won it several times now, okay the "batting catapult stones with a sword" thing is stupid, but otherwise great fun!
Definitely needs further levels. Possible ideas:
New enemies, mounted lancers, mounted archers, Ninja, bandits, angry peasants, wild animals.
New terrain, slopes, rocks , holes in ground (for ambush/obstacles).
New weapons, Ballistas, fire, weird hand weapons for ninja/peasants.
New conditions, snow, ice, smoke, fog
Mounted scene, you have to gallop a horse past/ through enemies and obstacles, the original samurai were mounted archers, after all.
Hunting scene: Samurai is out of food, must shoot birds/rabbits with his bow.

Overall... good game... slashing technique and costume for main character is reminiscent of Samurai Jack as portrayed on Cartoon Network.
The idea that a samurai can be so good he can take out dozens of opponents with single stroke movements would make such a person legendary and of course fictional. Nevertheless, playing such a character can be a lot of fun and a good stress reliever (i.e. better here than in real life).
Music could have had more differentiation, though that might have made the game harder to play with the smoothness found as it is now.
Graphics were well done considering the simplicity of the game, especially the death scenes.
Strategy built into the game, with the added challenge of an additional weapon (the bow) that the samurai in this game is probably not very proficient with, gets extra marks.
An ending story resolution, such as what happens after the samurai completes all victory conditions would have been a nice touch. (something to add later in a future version or patched version perhaps)

Hey, awesome bonus stage dude! I like how the background turned purple after the last boss & against an Ancient Samurai. Did you base it on the one from the Bruce Lee movie? Took me aages, but the fight was worth it. LOL!

Your game is definatly one of the best flash games I have ever played, good idea for a game inovation as far using the mouse to kill the whole idea of the "fastest samurai" was definatly an eye catcher, I played this boy in school took about 26 minutes, the found items were nice, the stratagy part of the game was nice,multiple weapons were nice, head shot n combo system was nice(even tho the hitboxes were a little off in some parts) I'd say the only bad part of the game was it didn't have a follow up, well that and there maybe could be a little more boss fights, along with a health bar while fighting the boss, did enjoy the difficulty of the boss as opposed to everyother =], scrolling battle scenes wern't all that bad if you know how to use them, its a little weird since they come from out of the screen, you should have a person per frame deal but other than that very nice, wsad movement is not needed in my oppinion but should probably be implimented, all in all basically 9/10 keep it up I liked almost everything about this game and being a "gamer" myself I'd say you definatly have potential TTU!

Well i was playing the game again, and i think it would be better if...
#1: Moving was done by the WASD keys because moving and killing with mouse is akward.
#2: no scrolling with mouse in battle scene because it sometimes screws up the line your making.

It is an awesome game, though a little short. If you do make a second, you should keep it as realistic as the first, and solve the map scrolling.
Excellent game with an incredible final battle at the end. You should certainly make a longer sequel with another final boss. Good graphics and good balance of enemy types.

I really love this game. Samurai slashing action, with innovative controls. It could really do with some extra frills though. Maybe an unlockable weapon with a special move, and a few more enemy types to combat.

I really liked the first part of the game and found it fun. The strategy part is really confusing for me, though. It's hard for me to understand how to work it. I sort of click around and get 1 on some tiles, then end my turn. Then the enemy like explodes with tons of troops! Then two of my one tiles turn into 3s and the rest stay as 1s? How do I move troops from a 3 tile to a 1 tile? Is the enemy supposed to have massive troops? How do you take over one of their tiles?
If there's a guide somewhere, point me to it! Thanks.

That was a fun game! Reminded me of a game I made up when I was a kid with my brother. My concept was take a pencil and slash it through my enemies tanks. I think I drew tanks and we'd take turns pressing the pencil from our tanks with our index fingers. To be continued it said at the end. When is there going to be more? How do I get a password when I'm finished?

contains bugs. First I got stuck in bow training, couldnt get back. restarted then I got stuck in the battle against 2 archers, somehow my ninja disapaered...you should ad a "back to main" option.

Surprisingly entertaining- The flip to a strategic war game (however simplistic the strategy) tripled the longevity, and gave me a clear goal to aim for in completing the game; domination of the board.
Perhaps oneday, after a break from 'Shwing!' noises, you might do well to make a more ambitious project out of this combination, working in a greater variety of enemies, strategic dismemberment, the removal of armour at weak points, and gesture based draw-patterns to add variety to the Samurai's abilities, such as jumps and throws. I'll cut myself short there, before I begin to get inspired..

Good game... a lot of fun... took me awhile to beat the last guy...
I COULD NOT GET THE MUSIC TO TURN OFF!!!! and had to therefore mute my whole computer or other clips I was was watching while the game was paused had annoying music it the back ground...
That said... I have played the other games here and I will vote for you! well done

You should really consider making a iPhone or DS version of this, you could really make some money.

Some more mutilating and dismemberment on the enemies when you slash them would be a great thing if you make another game. Also some better blood splatter, depending on how you slash the enemies. And some better scrolling on the "ingame fighting" map.
Overall, a very awsome game.
And one more thing. If you're thinking in another version i would like to broke the trees to smash the enemys for example...
That's a really good game. This new play mode is very cool. i've liked a lot and i expect that a new version comes.
Finally gameplay that is smart utilizing the mouse.
My main beef was with the map not scrolling with the mouse.
You may have fixed that.

Here's another idea: obstacles. Like, you could have a part where there's an enemy hovering just off a cliff, and if you fall off the cliff, you're dead. So you have to slash in such a way as to not fall off the cliff. And maybe fire and such in later levels.

Very cool idea. I love the Samurai Jack feel of the game. I agree about more moves in the next version though, if there is one coming. An enemy where you need to draw a circular slash to knock his weapon/shield out of the way to make him vulnerable to a killing slash could be cool. I also want to be able to chop up the squirrels and birds for some reason.

This game is, as my friend described it, "teh shit". There are only a couple of suggestions I can make.
1. Different music. I mean, no offense man, but I just didn't like the music, I muted it and played "I'll make a man out of you" and "kung fu fighting" on youtube.
2. More moves. Like, maybe you could program in some more moves besides the basic slash, differentiated by the lines you draw, allowing you to do those fancy moves you always see in kung fu movies like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Kung Fu Panda.
3. Maybe more enemies? Like, I think that it would be cool to battle some flying enemies, for example.
Overall, great game, 8 out of 10.
Not to be a bubble burster but one serious flaw in the game just ruined the whole thing for me:
I've defeated EVERY tile in the strategy mode except the main tent. All my troop numbers are at 10, I attack with one of the troops surrounding the tent and it goes all the way back to 1. The enemy takes over that tile and it turns into, well let's say on this occasion, a 4.
That means, in the first place: the enemy only had 5 and somehow a 10 lost to it. And: That the enemy now has a 1 in that tile since 4 moved to the new tile.
Should be impossible not to take him, correct?
I attack with all the other 10's surrounding him and they ALL lose.
Frankly, my strategy is perfect. The game is the problem.
This would work so well as a full length DS game...
