When I chose Clinton it wasn't because I disliked him -- he just represented risk at a time when we could not afford risk. But over the last three months, everything that I feared about Obama became a reality -- he is tempermentally unsuited to be President, repeated failed to find an effective way to address the questions about his past, and rather than confront his weaknesses as a candidate, he avoided them and blamed everyone but himself for his own inadequacies.

Starting with Texas and Ohio, there should have been no more superdelegate support for Obama, and starting with Pennsylvania, the SDs should have been flocking to Clinton. I've worked on campaigns. I've gotten people out to vote, and I've gotten more seniors rides to polls and helped them straighten out their registration issues more than I can recall.

When this election cycle started, I liked Hillary, Obama and Edwards. The only reason that I voted for Obama was that the pundits said he had the best chance of beating any Republican in the fall. I had checked with his campaign to see how he felt about seating the Florida and Michigan delegates, as I had been making calls and sending emails to try to overturn that decision. I was lied to by his campaign, as they told me that he wanted the delegates seated, but this was out of his control. I wish I would have saved those emails.

Long story short, I began to think something was up when the took his name off the ballot in Michigan, and then ran ads down here and denied he broke the pledge. Then the race-bating with the Clintons started. I don't know much, but I do know that Bill and Hillary are not racist. Then he lost in Florida and declared our race \"meaningless,\" and a few days later, I noticed how \"in the tank\" the MSM was for him before Super Tuesday. Then I found out local grassroots organizations down here were planning on circulating petitions NOT to count the votes. After cautioning a young Obama supporter and getting fed back a tirade of \"how dare I criticize the only man who's ever inspired her,\" I decided something must seriously be wrong with this man. I started doing my own investigations and I knew about Wright, Rezko, Ayers and the lot before these stories broke in the media. That's when I began to really listen to Hillary, and I saw her arguments were more substantive. She really became the populist in this campaign.

But the DNC... Oh, the wretched DNC. I don't know how Donna Brazile can look at herself in the mirror, remembering those 20,000 voters who were \"disqualified\" by Katherine Harris in 2000, while at the same time, she stacked this race in Obama's favor. The harsh sanctions against Florida and Michigan, designed to level the playing field for Obama (we were both only to lose half our delegates). Handed him 59 delegates that he didn't even earn. The party officials (Pelosi and Reid) who made the super delegates declare before the convention, and the way they let his campaign attack the characters of Hillary and Bill Clinton, while at the same time, letting Obama play sexist and Marxist songs at his rallies. I don't even know why they had a primary. Why didn't they just declare a socialist coup and be done with it.

As a result, I can no longer be a member of this party. I thought we were better than Republicans. So, I am now an Independent... or I'm working on it. It's hard to make the change, but I have to do it. This is notice that I will no longer distinguish myself as a Democrat. Although my state does not require me to commit to a party, I have always voted down the line for Democrats since I have been legally able to vote. I will no longer do so and from now on I will now consider myself to be an Independent. I WILL NOT VOTE FOR BARACK OBAMA IN THE GENERAL ELECTION. Below are some of the reasons why.

Many party insiders believe that, over time, most Clinton supporters will decide that a reluctant vote for Obama is better than a spiteful vote for McCain. But what you party insiders don't seem to grasp is that we do have a lot more in common with Mccain than with Obama. If it were any other republican running this year I would never be able to vote for a republican, but Mccain has always appealed to moderate democrats. I want someone with experience running this country. I think it is much worse to have another inexperienced president than another republican president. I will not be scared by wedge issues, such as abortion, to intimidate me into voting for Obama, nor will many other Clinton supporters. We will not let the same tactics used by George W. Bush be perpetrated by a neo-liberal such as Obama who talks out of both sides of his mouth. We Clinton supporters are too smart for that. We do not want an extreme version of the democratic party and we won't let democrats be hijacked by ultra-liberals, as the republicans were hijacked by the right-wing nuts.

In addition the mob-mentality and win-at-any-cost attitude that Obama supporters have is truly scary. I will not give into their threats, abuse or intimidation. They try to silence anyone opposed to their candidate, or who even questions his judgment. This is completely undemocratic, just as the use of force and intimidation by Obama supporters during the caucuses were. It seems that Obama and his campaign took good notes when George W. Bush ran for office and are mimicking his strategies almost perfectly. It astonishes me that you 'leaders' in the DNC cannot see that. His campaign demonizes Clinton and her supporters, calling out the race card on anyone that chose not to vote for him or questions him on his experience. He used divisive and sexist language when referring to Clinton and her campaign. Not once did the DNC stand up for her, instead you sat silently letting the media and the Obama campaign imply that Hillary and Bill Clinton were racists. Here are two people that have worked on behalf of civil rights there entire lives and so easily they are called out as racists for Obama's political gains?! This kind of thing will surely set racial issues back for years to come.

I felt voiceless for the last seven years during the presidency of GW, and now my own party has denied my voice. When he came out of hiding, first time, howard dean insisted: SDs must follow the will of the people. then he climbed under his rock again. When he came out 2nd time he said, SDs should vote their own best judgment for the party, then disappeared again. When we asked, why he did not even seem to notice the virulent disrespect of MSM for 1 of the 2 Dem candidates, he said that wasn't his place to do. Then, after HILL won state after state (Will of the People) and there was too much obama dirt to even keep track off (issue of judgment) Dean came out a 3rd time and told SDs just do whatever you want! which clearly translated to do what I want!
Then he appeared only once more, to criticize the press for attacking obama!!! And opened the 5/31 Ruleless, clueless debacle with a stern statement condemning the racism in this campaign!!! Had to see it to really get it - one power-hungry crook covering for another power-hungry crook

Other than that - I investigated obama after I had quickly seen through him. I lived in a 3rd world black country where I wrote guidebooks for tourists - to serve as a cultural integration bridge. I learned 1st hand of 3rd world political corruption terrorism techniiques - and I learned about gigolos. Spotted obama for what he was, first time I saw him- a 3rd world gigolo. Then read review of his \"Dreams\" where reviewer spotted the same manipulative, sociopathic disrespect and trickery toward those perceived as \"having more\". Investigating him after, only fleshed out the details of his morbid past and immorality.

Why am I leaving the party I have worked for thirty years? As it got closer to my state caucus, I decided that I better check the guy out and decide who I wanted to vote for. I was leaning towards Obama, but also liked Clinton and Edwards. I went to all 3 websites, looked at their voting records and thought about their resumes. When I looked at Obama compred to the others, I said, \"Well, this guy's a joke.\" I went for Clinton. I decided she was the best candidate and most qualified for the job. I was turned off by Obama because it occurred to me this is a nothing guy, running on Clinton's platform with a couple of downgrades, who is being handed a job while the woman of substance is being picked over. Obama won our caucus which was odd because I was in a room full of people who spoke for Hillary and had on Hillary buttons, etc., yet the count came out heavily Obama. I was stunned. The numbers did not correlate. Yet I went home and started watching Obama to try to see what all the fuss was about. In the past 4 months since, I still don't know what all the fuss is about. I've waited for him to inspire me, I saw him as naive. I wanted to hear some kind of real plan, all I saw were lies and arrogance. I wanted my party to pick the winner as more and more I saw him as very unelectible once all of his skeletons come out. I researched him by following the Rezko trial in the Chicago papers and connecting all the dots of Obama to Operation Board games and realized that even if it is not true (I believe it is), it can be spun to look really, really bad. I hoped my party would pull their heads out of their a-- and see that Clinton is the best candidate. Instead they threw her away. For what? This nothing man, with no substance, whose supporters can't tell you one thing he's accomplished? A guy who cheated to get into the senate. Let's be real here. Maybe getting all the opponents off the ballot so you run unopposed as the only dems choice is legal, but not moral or what a strong candidate of substance would do and it makes me wonder about what happened in Michigan. The Florida primary is absurd since the republican legialature controlled the date of the primary and there weren't enough dems to stop it and in my opinion Floridians should not be punished for what republicans forced on them. Florida should be counted full, as well as Michigan and Obama not on the ballot? Bummer when you make a bad choice because you are naive (or corrupt). If not tampering, then it shows that inexperience. I could go on all day here about why I won't vote for Obama under any circumstances, but basically, I see him as a bad guy. A guy who says one thing, but his actions say much different, a liar and a cheat and one I would never support. To watch my party's behavior has been appalling. Why have leaders who don't lead? I will be voting for McCain unless a 3rd party with any viability crops up and I signed up with the RNC and they very much e
           SC | 06.06.08 - 7:03 am | #

As regards this last post: You can write in Hillary's name in many states. I had huge coke-bottle glasses for much of my childhood and a pretty outdated afro until I was a sophmore in high school. I did get good grades and knew the answers when teachers called on me in class. But, that didn't exactly get me invited to the \"cool\" table in the cafeteria. I didn't mind actually because I had books and my family to keep me company, and that's all I cared about or needed, but I knew that in school there was an \"in\" group and an \"out\" group and which one I was in.

It took me 'till early in my junior year in high school before I realized that there were a heck of a lot of kids in the \"out\" group. (Yes, I was slow in coming to this fact). They were a very diverse group and were amazingly interesting - they were song writers, dreamers, math whizzes, chess champions, punk rockers, engineers, sculptors, painters, authors, historians, athletes (just not of organized sports), literary critics, chemists, anarchists, communists, socialists, yes - some fascists, capitalists, third-world liberationists, geniuses, chefs, fashion designers and comedians. When not in class, they hung out only in the basement, where the art rooms were, and outside one particular back door at my high school where intellectual debates raged and smoking was allowed if you were of age. The best part was, anyone could and was welcome to join - no price of entry and no rules, actually no organization at all really - other than that everyone's personhood and quirks were respected. I never went back to the cafeteria and my life has been a mostly happy one ever since. (Sorry, mama since you probably thought I ate lunch in the cafeteria every day - but I never did smoke!) So, is it any wonder that I joined the democratic party?

Yesterday, the DNC told me that the party actually (unbeknownst to me all these years) is the \"in\" group, and I am now part of the \"out\" group again, politically. I thought I was part of a party that held complete enfranchisement as a bedrock principle. One person, one vote. The intent of the voter; the will of the voters - not just in a general election but in every election. Yesterday, it finally dawned on me that the democratic party is not about \"democracy\" per se, but is about rules uber alles (even when they disenfranchise and even when the rules are not really followed all the time for everyone), order and \"unity.\" I'm not sure what \"unity\" means as the party now defines it, but counting every voter and respecting their votes actually doesn't lead to unity all the time. Unity is what the politburo asks for - democracies ask that we discern what the people want - even if it's messy.

We
           Dawn - Washington State | 06.06.08 - 11:39 am | #

Here is why I am no longer a democrat.

I am pissed at these self-centered party elders who get mad at call us hateful and racist when we, the voters that they are supposed to serve, write to them with our concerns and questions. Hillary DID garner more votes AND she obtained a great amount of these after we in Texas voted FOR HER. Yet, for whatever reason, the delegates (my nearest delegate for sure) gave the nod to Obama. \"My\" pledge-delegate came out the MORNING of our primary to give it to Obama, though Hillary did win in my area.
And, yes; at the very beginning of this election process, I said I would NOT be voting for Hillary- I did not believe that a woman would be elected, especially when it came to other women voting! We all do know, as women, that we are so much of the time our own worst enemies. Imagine my surprise as the momentum built FOR a woman- But,this was not just ANY woman. This is Hillary Clinton and she has the knowledge, experience, and ability to work WITH Washington insiders.. this is terribly important when getting down and dirty in the White-House id concerned.
Now, Obama? hello? HOW many times can a man actually vote \"present\" rather than nay or yay on a bill before people wake the heck up and realise that this man does NOT have it in him to do the job(s) for which he was \"elected\" (again quotes as it seems he truly had no opposition in state and national/state elections). has the dog eaten his homework? Perhaps it was the sheep (referring to the sheeple/children who have gotten so far up his rear end that it seems they cannot see what's happening in the daylight)? Do they not wish to open their eyes and see that we will have a presidency much the same as what we have had under Bush- Obama will not vote with Congress- or, perhaps he will as he won't be able to truly abstain if president. Of course, a veto may be too much for him so I see earmarks out the proverbial ying-yang.. IF he could actually win in the Fall. And, I do not believe he could.
However, I will NOT be falling into line and voting for Obama. THIS is the first time since 1976 that I have voted MY heart rather than sticking up for the democratic nominee-- well, other than my votes for Bill Clinton; Bill did a great job and I remember the Clinton years fondly. I was a John Edwards supporter that \"hated\" Hillary. I tried to get the Michigan Democratic Party to not switch primary dates. They wouldn't listen and even hung up on me. I kept wondering why John wasn't doing more with Bonior on his team to stop what was happening in Michigan. John never gave me a good reason when he got out of the race. I felt like he was \"forced\". I gave him a lot of money and he was on fire going to the convention one night and the next day, he just simply \"bowed\" out. I felt confused. I started listening more closely to the other two main candidates. I had read too much about Barack and I didn't like his dirty, cheating way like the caucus take overs and his house deal. Hillary started sounding more and more like the message John had been pitching. I saw the MSM, Barack and his supporters and the Democratic Party hurl insult after insult upon her. I was simply amazed at her \"fight\". I came to respect Hillary and now I am an avid fan. I went to hear her speak in Southbend and I realized then that I wished I'd been with Hillary from the beginning. If I had my uncommitted vote in Michigan wouldn't have been totally stolen and given to Barack. What the Democratic Party did in Michigan by giving Barack all of the uncommitted votes and even 4 of Hillary's votes plus cutting them in half made me furious. I'm no longer a Democrat. I am 53 years old and pretty much always voted down the ticket Democrat all the way. No longer! Carl Levin will not get my vote! I will not be voting for any Democrat this year. They stole my vote. They didn't care about me. They awarded this election to Barack. In fact they hand picked him. We were told by Oprah, \"He's the chosen one.\" Well, they can have him. I'm fed up with being told to shut up and get in line. They can eat it as far as I'm concerned. I cannot imagine a scenario where I'll be voting Democratic this year unless the Democratic Party comes to their senses and some how Hillary becomes the candidate! By the way, I was furious at the way John came to Michigan with Barack and announced for Barack when Hillary had just had a big win. It was politics and I had thought John wasn't a typical politician. Now I know that he's just like the rest. I am so disappointed in him. I, personally, didn't want him to endorse either candidate. I wanted the best one to be left standing. What we got is win after win by Hillary and super delegates boosting Barack after every win Hillary had. I am so over the Democratic Party. I want a new party. Both of the two main parties are corrupt and corporate. I'll probably vote for Nader if he is on the ballot in Michigan.
           Katie | 06.08.08 - 6:55 am | #

i quit the democrat party after 20 yerars and switched to Independant. I felt that it was important to lend my support to a party structure to counter Republican abuses. For those that used to go to Hillary's official site(now taken over by the Obamabots) you can go to Hillaryvillagers.com.
           Sherry in IA | 06.14.08 - 10:44 am | #

Sorry not Hillaryvillagers.cohttp://www.freewebs.com/hillaryvillagers/index.htmm but
           Sherry in IA | 06.14.08 - 10:46 am | #

http://www.freewebs.com/hillaryv...agers/index.htm
           Sherry in IA | 06.14.08 - 10:47 am | #

Hi! I am a former New Yorker who moved to Charlotte, NC 3 yrs. ago and now wish I was back home in Rochester. My vote here in NC apparently meant nothing compared to the groundswell of support for Obama.I was shocked and dismayed by big media's blatant sexism against Hillary and her \"women\"! I am a baby boomer and I am mad as hell! I am formally re-registering as an Independant and will no longer consider myself a Democrat until women are treated better by the party and the media! I will either vote for McCain or will write in Hillary's name. I truly think that she should run as an Independant and screw both parties. Alas, it will not be. So many of we women were reminded of latter times of the rampant sexism that was pervasive in the '60's and the '70's. Now my 28 yr. old daughter gets to experience it. by the way, I also buck the math in the media's statistics. I may be a middle-aged white woman but am highly educated, not blue collar and not Catholic.Let us sound the battlecry!
           Pam | 06.14.08 - 10:51 pm | #

I voted Hillary, wasnt thrilled with her, more of a Bill fan but I let her ride his coat tails. I will not vote for Liberal Obamessiah. I like Huckabee but I am a McCain supporter now.
