When I was 15, my dad said, "You know that you can't tell if a boy is ... ummm ... *sick* ... just by looking at him, right?" That was the extent of our talk.
I probably would have fainted if either of my parents talked about swallowing!
Of course, this book would have been great to have had. I'll have to remember it.
eek. I don't know whether to be glad or more frightened since I only have boys. I've decided it's even wierder to think your kids might one day have sex than it is to think your parents still do. Thanks for the new reference book!
Hubs and I have been talking about this very topic as of late. I'll be interested to check out this book.
My oldest is 7 and I'm thankful to have years to figure it out.
It's tricky to find out the approach that's right- encouraging openness yet not suggesting approval of early sexish behaviors.

Eek...swallowing semen isn't something I want to contemplate as an ADULT for myself.

TalkS? Dang. I just had THE talk this summer with my 10 year old daughter. The relief that washed over me was celebratory! I actually toasted myself with a Martini (later that evening) for following through!
I bought multiple books, lured her on a shopping trip--just the two of us, let her sit in the front seat, and locked her in the car in an empty parking lot, so she wouldn't be able to get away during our heart to heart blush session.
The thought that there are more of these convos in our future is frightening ("swallowing semen" AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!) I've got go have another stiff drink!!!
BTW-My 10 year old is the oldest of my 3 daughters...I'm going to be a raging alcoholic by the time they're through with High School.
